To use Devil Fruit abilities, one must expend physical energy. This is an ironclad rule.
But... what if this storage bracelet is ever lost? Could someone else use it?
Asa frowned. That wasn't good news.
But there was no helping it. If an object eats a Devil Fruit, it gains its powers. There's no such thing as ownership recognition.
Thinking about this, Asa couldn't help but chuckle. Was he really worrying about losing it the moment he got it?
He didn't believe anyone could take it from him.
He took out the Door-Door Fruit from his chest and placed it into the storage gate of the Fortified Bracelet, beginning to explore how large the internal space really was.
In the original story, when Capone Bege invited people in for negotiations, it initially seemed like there was only one room big enough for a dozen people. But when dozens of gunmen suddenly appeared, it became clear there was more than one room.
How many rooms are in a castle? It's uncertain. Perhaps expanding the internal space requires time and development.
The Fortified Bracelet on Asa's wrist had the space equivalent of five rooms. While not vast, it was sufficient.
Five rooms put together still made for a considerable area, capable of storing enough food to last him a very long time.
The only drawback? The Fortified Bracelet lacked intelligence and couldn't evolve its powers independently. Its Devil Fruit ability had already been fixed. A real pity.
He stored the Door-Door Fruit and the clothes he bought into the Fortified Bracelet, then waited calmly, legs crossed.
Two hours later, it was already evening when the waiter finally returned, arms full. There was so much food it had to be stacked at the door.
"Master Asa, I've bought all the food you requested. It's placed right outside the restaurant!" the waiter reported respectfully.
"Oh?" Asa opened his eyes, stretched lazily, and followed the waiter out.
…
"Is your restaurant even open? Why is food blocking the entrance? Move it, now!"
A terrifying-looking woman stood with her hands on her hips, pointing at the waiter's nose as she berated him.
"Do you know who our big sister is? She's the infamous pirate 'Crescent Moon Hunter' Caterina Devon, with a bounty of 180 million beli!" her scruffy followers crowed arrogantly, flaunting their status.
"I-I'm sorry! Someone will come move it right away!" the waiter bowed repeatedly, trembling in fear.
Most people who made a living in the Sabaody Archipelago were well-informed about the world. As the final stop before entering the New World, this place saw many infamous pirates pass through.
Naturally, they were no strangers to Caterina Devon—the most notorious female pirate in history.
"Sorry?" Caterina's heavily made-up face twisted with cruelty. "Hehehe… Sorry? On the sea, sorry doesn't mean a thing, fool!"
"Shing!"
She unsheathed the long sword at her waist and swung it directly at the waiter's neck.
Unpredictable and bloodthirsty.
"Ahh!"
The waiter froze in terror, completely paralyzed by her overwhelming presence.
A crowd had already gathered, watching the drama unfold, but no one dared to intervene.
The blade was mere inches from the waiter's neck when—
"CLANG!!"
In a flash, a figure appeared. Sparks flew as Caterina's sword was caught mid-swing by a single hand—immovable.
"Heh… trying to kill someone outside a restaurant run by my crew? Have you asked me, the captain?" Asa sneered, staring down Caterina Devon with chilling intensity.
Gripping the blade, he exerted so much force that she couldn't even retract it.
"Hehehe!" Caterina was stunned at first, then cackled. "And who the hell are you to stop me?"
Asa ignored her and turned to the waiter. "Get back."
"Y-Yes sir!" The waiter stumbled away, rushing inside, trembling—but also relieved.
"Ignoring me? Are you looking down on me?!" Caterina fumed.
"Sister…" one of her underlings whispered nervously. "That's 'God of Thunder' Hippolyte D. Asa. The one who stole the Sky Gold recently. He's got a bounty of 500 million beli!"
"A 500 million bounty pirate? Hahaha!" Caterina laughed maniacally. "So what? You think the Thunder Fruit makes you invincible? Die!"
She raised her sword again, coating its tip in Armament Haki.
Being able to infuse Haki into weapons was no easy feat. It meant her Haki mastery was far from weak—possibly even superior to Asa's at that moment.
But before she could strike, Asa had already moved.
He wouldn't let anyone attack someone under his protection. Not in his crew's restaurant.
Lightning flickered on his fist and suddenly burst forward.
"Zzzzzzzzap!"
A bolt of lightning shot forth.
Sensing danger, Caterina's Observation Haki screamed a warning. She instinctively swung her sword upward to intercept.
Her Haki-infused sword could strike elemental bodies.
"Clang!"
A metallic crash echoed. The sheer power of the thunderbolt sent Caterina flying back dozens of meters. Though she blocked the lightning itself, the impact made her vomit blood.
She couldn't even take a single strike.
The onlookers were stunned into silence.
Her goons, once loud and cocky, were now frozen in fear.
After a long pause, someone muttered:
"A la la… You're getting stronger, Asa."
From the crowd emerged a tall figure: Admiral Aokiji, followed by the towering Jaguar D. Saul and a squad of Marines.
"Vice Admiral Kuzan. Are you here to test me too?" Asa asked calmly, retracting his arm.
Though Caterina still had fight left in her, her fear-filled eyes made Asa lose all interest.
To Asa, anyone who flinched before power wasn't worth a second strike.
