"Hmm? Where are you going?" Hearing Selina's words, Jiang Hai was stunned again. He didn't want to come here for nothing, but the problem was, he really didn't know these people.
When Selina heard his words, she smiled, suddenly finding Jiang Hai to be quite an interesting person. She didn't explain herself immediately but pulled Jiang Hai by the arm, walking toward a corner in the distance.
When they reached the corner, Jiang Hai saw a woman sitting on a sofa. The woman appeared to be in her thirties, with fair American skin that was well-maintained and taut. Her sharp eyes casually scanned the room, giving off an air of aloofness, as if she were an unreachable iceberg.
This woman was undoubtedly the most powerful and coldest beauty Jiang Hai had ever seen. Her light blue dress stood out in the lively banquet hall, adding to her striking presence. Most of the women at the banquet wore black, white, or warm colors like yellow, red, beige, or pink to convey a friendly image. But this woman wore an ice-blue dress, which made her stand out in stark contrast. Despite wearing a dress, she gave off an aura similar to Jiang Hai's, one that made people hesitant to approach. Her presence was so commanding that no one dared come within three meters of her.
"Sister Pra, you're here!" However, Selina seemed unfazed by such a strong aura. She walked over with a smile, guided Jiang Hai to the sofa opposite the woman, and then approached Pra. Leaning on Pra's arm with a grin, she said, "It's been a while!"
"Oh, it's Selina. I saw your news recently. How have you been?" Pra Walton responded with a smile, though even in her smile, Jiang Hai could sense an underlying coldness.
"I'm fine. I've gotten used to that jerk, but those reporters following me around are a bit much. By the way, let me introduce you to this guy, Jiang Hai. He helped me get back at that jerk before the Rookie Challenge. He has a manor at home where he raises cattle, fish, and the like. I remember you recently took over Sam's Club, so I thought I'd introduce him to you and see if there's potential for cooperation."
Selina waved her hand dismissively as she spoke. She wasn't interested in discussing Justin Bieber any longer. She had a different agenda today.
"Oh?" Pra raised an eyebrow in surprise as she turned her gaze toward Jiang Hai.
"Is this Mr. Jiang Asian?" Pra Walton asked, studying his youthful face.
"Yes, I'm Chinese. Though I have a U.S. green card, I haven't been naturalized, so I'm still Chinese," Jiang Hai replied directly, not bothering to hide anything.
"Oh, I see. Then may I ask where your manor is? How many livestock do you have, and what's the quality like?" Pra asked, casually swirling the wine in her glass as she looked at him.
Although Pra had no real interest in Jiang Hai's manor, she had a good personal relationship with Selina. In the U.S., everything is about connections, and refusing without at least asking would be a bit rude.
"My estate is in Boston, to be exact, in Winthrop. I currently have about 20,000 head of cattle. As for the quality, I'm not an expert, but I usually eat top-grade A marbled beef from my estate, and we have a substantial output," Jiang Hai explained, after thinking for a moment. He didn't know much about Sam's Club and didn't feel any strong connection to Pra. However, he couldn't let Selina down, especially after she'd introduced him. To him, selling beef was the least of his concerns.
"Oh? Premium A-grade marbled beef? Haha, it sounds like Mr. Jiang's lifestyle is quite comfortable," Pra chuckled. In her mind, Jiang Hai was probably just bragging. Even the wealthiest people couldn't afford to eat premium A-grade marbled beef every day. The retail price for it ranged from $350 to $400 per pound. At the cheapest, it would cost $1,050 a day just for the beef—more than $400,000 annually for one person, and even more for a family.
She doubted anyone could live like that, not even Bill Gates.
"Don't disbelieve me. I can tell by that smile that you're skeptical. I'm telling the truth. My beef isn't hard to sell, because I'm planning to participate in the Beef Cattle Exhibition here this April. Each of my cows can produce premium A-grade beef. If I win the Cattle King title, the market for my cattle will be secured. Still don't believe me? How about this—if you're really curious, come visit my estate when you have time, and I'll show you."
Seeing the doubt in Pra's eyes, Jiang Hai, someone who disliked being underestimated, couldn't help but speak up confidently. His own insecurity pushed him to make the offer without hesitation.
At this, Pra was taken aback by Jiang Hai's firm tone. What caught her most was the content of his words—each cow producing premium A-grade beef? That sounded almost too good to be true.
"Okay, I'd like to see it for myself," Pra said, her amusement turning into genuine curiosity.
She wasn't sure if Jiang Hai was trying to lure her to his manor with a simple promise or if he really believed what he was saying, but something about his demeanor told her that he wasn't lying.
"Not anytime soon, though. The day after tomorrow is Chinese New Year, and I need to head home. I'll be back at the end of February. If you really want to visit, you can come after that," Jiang Hai replied. After exchanging phone numbers, he got up to leave.
As he stood up to go, Selina followed him. She now found Jiang Hai even more interesting.
"Hey, your strategy was good. Let Sister Pra check out your place. If she really likes it, selling your 20,000 head of cattle won't be a problem. Don't worry about thanking me, it's just a small favor," Selina said, giving Jiang Hai a friendly pat on the shoulder.
"Strategy? What strategy? I'm telling the truth. I've got plenty of premium A-grade beef. Eat as much as you want," Jiang Hai replied, raising an eyebrow. He thought it was a bit naive of her to call it a "strategy" when he was simply speaking honestly.
"Really?" Selina asked, surprised by his serious expression. Although she wasn't directly involved in the beef industry, she understood what premium A-grade beef was and knew it wasn't something many people could afford.
The world's beef market was largely dominated by the U.S., with American beef imported into most countries, except a few like China. However, the Japanese beef industry stood at the top, known for producing the best marbled beef.
Now Jiang Hai was claiming to have an unlimited supply of premium A-grade beef. It made her even more curious.
"Alright, I'll go with Sister Pra. You entertain her. This is my personal number," Selina said, handing Jiang Hai a business card with a characteristic smile. "I've got to run, someone's calling me." She waved and hurried off to greet a group of girls nearby.
Jiang Hai looked at the business card in his hand, scratching his head in confusion. "You're just handing me a business card like this? Alright, I'll keep it."
After all, it was a celebrity's business card. Back in China, he could show it off to his friends, though he suspected they wouldn't recognize her. They'd probably be more interested in NBA stars. Thinking about it, Jiang Hai wondered if he should have asked for an autograph instead. (To be continued.)
