Chapter 169: Annoying Classmates Reunion

"Hey, you're finally here! I've been waiting for you. Hurry up and head to Room 306 on the third floor. I think it's almost time for them to leave." After parking the car, the three of them walked into the lobby of the hotel. As soon as they entered, they saw a woman with a large belly walking toward them, smiling. This woman was none other than Jiang Hai's former class monitor.

This class reunion was organized by her as well. While Jiang Hai hadn't been in contact with her for years, Fu Yuan and Xiang Hua were close to her, often visiting her house to play mahjong. Though she was a mahjong enthusiast, she wasn't particularly skilled.

Her personality was quite bold and generous, more like a man than a woman. Even though she was pregnant, she was still out playing around with her large belly.

"Is everyone here?" The class monitor asked, and Fu Yuan, on hearing her words, became excited.

"Almost, nearly everyone has arrived," the class monitor responded with a smile, counting the people in her head.

"Is Yu Jia here too?" Fu Yuan asked quietly, leaning closer to the monitor.

"Yes, she's here! Hurry, go up," the class monitor chuckled as she noticed Fu Yuan's eager expression.

"Okay!" Fu Yuan was like a wild horse, eager to run upstairs.

But before he could take off, Jiang Hai stopped him. "Wait, the school belle you mentioned—you're talking about Yu Jia, right?"

Jiang Hai looked at Fu Yuan with some disbelief.

"Of course! Who else would I mean?" Fu Yuan responded proudly.

Seeing Fu Yuan's enthusiasm, Jiang Hai shook his head in amusement. "I've always known you had a peculiar taste, but I didn't know it was this strong. Alright, let's go."

Laughing at Fu Yuan's eagerness, Jiang Hai thought that some people's preferences were hard to change. Yu Jia, mentioned by Fu Yuan, had always been a bit of an oddity in school.

She had grown up early, which was inevitable. But not only did she grow early—she was also quite large.

Jiang Hai remembered that the last time he saw her was in the fourth year of junior high. At that time, she was over 1.8 meters tall and weighed more than 170 kilograms. In school, she was known as the "Invincible Iron Fist." Once, when Jiang Hai and his friends had provoked some local gangsters, those thugs came to school to confront them. The ensuing fight was intense. Jiang Hai, Xiang Hua, and Fu Yuan were beaten so badly that their clothes were torn. But the gangsters didn't have it easy either. No one came to their aid, not because they were unpopular, but because everyone was too afraid.

It was then that Yu Jia walked by. The gangsters thought Jiang Hai and his friends were defeated, and one casually spat on Yu Jia's shoes. That turned out to be their downfall. Yu Jia single-handedly defeated all seven of them, knocking out the teeth of three gangsters. Jiang Hai and his friends were dumbfounded as they watched her in awe. From that day on, Jiang Hai gave her the nickname "Invincible Iron Fist."

But strangely, while Jiang Hai and Xiang Hua were intimidated by her, Fu Yuan seemed to have fallen for her.

After that, they lost touch, and Fu Yuan went on to a regular high school, while Yu Jia, it was rumored, went to a sports academy to practice wrestling.

Thinking back, Jiang Hai still felt a bit scared of her.

"Hey, when did you come back?" While climbing the stairs to the third floor, the class monitor walked over to Jiang Hai and asked curiously.

Although Jiang Hai didn't keep in touch with many classmates, Fu Yuan and Xiang Hua were mutual friends, so the class monitor had heard a bit about him from them. She had been surprised when she learned Jiang Hai would attend this reunion, as Fu Yuan had paid for his share, but there was no guarantee Jiang Hai would show up.

"Don't even mention it. I was brought here right after I got off the plane. I didn't even go home," Jiang Hai smiled, shrugging. To be honest, he wasn't particularly interested in the class reunion.

In his opinion, reunions were just a place where people pretended to be smart and ended up getting embarrassed. Right now, his main focus was on farming, not on getting humiliated. If it hadn't been for Fu Yuan, he wouldn't have bothered to come.

"By the way, how's Qi Li? A few days ago, I got a call from her. She said she couldn't find you and asked for Fu Yuan's number. She seemed worried you'd done something bad that day," the class monitor teased, smiling.

Hearing her words, Jiang Hai smiled too, but inwardly, he was cursing. This person really was a gossip.

"You should pay more attention to her," the class monitor continued. "Qi Li is different from other girls. She's beautiful, rich, and has everything anyone could want. What else could you be dissatisfied with? If you ask me, you should treat her better."

Jiang Hai didn't say much in response. The class monitor, now pregnant, seemed to be a little more sensitive than usual. He didn't want to argue, as it would only make things awkward.

Fortunately, they soon arrived at a private room on the third floor. As Fu Yuan opened the door, a lively scene greeted Jiang Hai.

"Hey, you're finally here! Come on, come on, sit down! The feast is about to start," a little chubby boy, who had been waiting inside, greeted them with a loud smile.

This little chubby boy was also a classmate of Jiang Hai's and now the husband of their class monitor. When they were young, he was very active in the class, friendly with everyone. He didn't have any enemies and was liked by both the teachers and students. His pleasant nature made him well-liked, which made sense that he was still the life of the party at reunions.

"Congratulations, you're going to be a father soon!" Jiang Hai smiled, clasping his fists in greeting.

"Haha, of course! When my child is over 100 days old, you have to come over for a drink!" the chubby boy replied, laughing. Everyone joined in the conversation, and Jiang Hai, though he agreed to attend, figured he'd probably be unable to return by then.

After a few pleasantries, Jiang Hai found an empty corner at a table to sit down. He had no real desire to socialize with his classmates. Some say reunions bring a sense of nostalgia, but for Jiang Hai, that wasn't the case.

He had always been a solitary person. As a child, he preferred being alone, making few friends. In junior high, his personality opened up a bit, and he made some friends, but they eventually drifted apart. College was no different, and even though he made a few good friends, they too became distant after his family's troubles. At least he had a few close friends, but he preferred a quiet life.

Jiang Hai's class had over 40 people, and nearly 30 had shown up for the reunion, which was quite a lot.

There were three tables in the private room. Everyone gathered with their friends, chatting and having fun, but Jiang Hai found little to talk about with most of them.

As for Fu Yuan and Xiang Hua, they quickly joined the crowd. Fu Yuan was primarily talking to a very tall and muscular woman. If Jiang Hai hadn't already known about her, he wouldn't have recognized her, but he guessed it was Yu Jia. She was now taller than Jiang Hai and appeared to weigh over 200 kilograms.

Jiang Hai had always found Fu Yuan's taste in women to be peculiar.

Xiang Hua, on the other hand, was much more popular than Jiang Hai in school. As soon as he entered, people called him over to reminisce, leaving Jiang Hai alone at the table. Though he looked a bit lonely, Jiang Hai was actually quite content. There was no drama, and he was at ease. He only hoped to finish the meal and go back to rest.

After all, even in business class, Jiang Hai couldn't handle a 13-hour flight. He hadn't recovered from the flight to the capital and was feeling a bit tired after today's journey.

Some classmates knew that Jiang Hai now lived in the United States, but Fu Yuan and others respected his privacy. They usually only mentioned Jiang Hai's work in farming and fish-raising in Boston, which didn't interest most of their classmates. After all, to them, no matter what he did, he was still considered "country" and had little influence.

No one disturbed him, which was perfect. Jiang Hai took a sip of tea, leaned against the wall, and prepared to take a nap.

But just because he didn't want to be the center of attention didn't mean others would let him be.
