Chapter 202: The Traitor

"To be honest, your place is so great that I don't want to leave!" Fu Yuan said to Jiang Hai with envy.

After they finished watching the plane, Jiang Hai and Fu Yuan returned to the villa.

Jiang Hai had originally wanted to invite Robbins and the others over for a meal—after all, it would be livelier with more people! However, in the United States, there's no tradition of "stealing the wind" during the New Year, nor do they celebrate housewarmings. People here aren't fond of entertaining guests, especially since Jiang Hai wasn't hosting a party.

Additionally, while Fu Yuan had a way with words, Jiang Hai knew that this kid wasn't very comfortable around outsiders.

In the end, Jiang Hai decided not to invite anyone else to dinner.

So, it was just the four of them—Xiao Huang, Xiao Bai, Ban Ya, and Jiu Jiu—eating at home.

Fu Yuan really liked Xiao Huang and Xiao Bai, but these two weren't the types to win others over. They kept their distance from him and left as soon as they'd finished their food. Ban Ya and Jiu Jiu, on the other hand, had become Darlene and Marian's pets, especially Ban Ya, who loved the two sisters for often giving him delicious food. Sometimes, he even pretended to obey Jiang Hai's orders.

After the sisters finished eating, Ban Ya left. As for Jiu Jiu, being a young bird who couldn't understand human speech, he also left when he saw his "bosses" leaving. With no one else around, Fu Yuan relaxed.

Jiang Hai had a lot of beer. These were bought at the Cowboy Song Bar in town. The beer from Old Tony had a bitter taste when he first tried it, but after drinking it for a while and getting used to it, the taste became really good, especially when served iced.

At first, Fu Yuan had been uncomfortable drinking the beer, but now he was completely in love with it.

"If you don't want to leave, stay a little longer. Anyway, I've got nothing to do here," Jiang Hai shrugged. He had plenty of people around him, but none were real friends. They weren't equals, so he couldn't really have fun with them.

Although the relationship between superiors and subordinates wasn't as tense as in China, Jiang Hai didn't truly get along with the Americans. In the whole manor, the only people around his age were Bell and Harriman. But Harriman was stubborn—he'd taken Jiang Hai's money to work, so he wasn't someone Jiang Hai could hang out with.

As for Bell, what would they do? Fight? Boring. Play with guns? Jiang Hai found that dull too.

Among the remaining people, only the eight girls were left, but Jiang Hai still felt awkward around them. He was just that kind of person.

"Hey, I'm just talking. Why take it seriously? If I stay, what will my dad do? What about my mom? Sure, my job isn't great, but I got it because of my dad's connections. If I quit, he'll definitely skin me alive!" Fu Yuan laughed helplessly, still a little drunk but not out of his mind.

After that, he took a big gulp of beer and laughed at himself. "Besides, I can't do anything here with you. You know how bad my English is. Alright, I'm not kidding. Keep drinking!"

Picking up the draft beer in front of him, Fu Yuan and Jiang Hai drank another round. Both of them finished half a glass in one go, then continued chatting.

That night, they talked for hours. By the time Fu Yuan was about to crawl under the table, it was already past one in the morning. Jiang Hai glanced at him. Although Fu Yuan was a bit drunk, he wasn't completely out of it. He finished the last glass of beer.

Jiang Hai grabbed Fu Yuan and took him to his room. The guy didn't care about being comfortable—he just wanted him to take off his clothes, shoes, and wipe his face. It would be easier to kill him than do all that. He threw Fu Yuan onto the bed and went back to his room to sleep. Time passed, and the quiet night enveloped the manor.

The next morning, Jiang Hai woke up at six o'clock, which was just before dawn in China, where it was the start of their nightlife.

"Boss, boss, look, Fu Yuan's moments have been updated! It's all food, and there are photos of you… your husband. Want to see?" Holding up her phone, Qi Li's assistant, a girl with glasses, said urgently.

At this time, Qi Li had just finished approving the work for the day and leaned back in her office chair, staring blankly. After hearing her assistant's words, she reacted slowly, then took her phone and looked at it.

The first thing that caught her eye was a huge lobster, looking like it had been both before and after being cooked.

There were also large abalone, sea cucumbers, the legendary dragon-flying soup, steak, and other delicacies.

Naturally, there were also selfies of Fu Yuan and photos of Jiang Hai.

"They really know how to enjoy themselves," Qi Li snorted disdainfully as she scrolled through Fu Yuan's moments. Especially when she saw Jiang Hai's sweet smile in one of the photos, her eyebrows raised in a mix of surprise and irritation.

Since her last unpleasant meeting with Jiang Hai, Qi Li found that she often thought about him.

Previously, she'd only thought of him once every ten days or half a month, but now it was every two or three days.

The memory of Jiang Hai asking her to sign the divorce agreement kept lingering in her mind, something she couldn't easily forget.

This didn't mean that she liked Jiang Hai. Instead, the feeling made her uncomfortable. It was like a doll that once belonged to her—though she didn't like it, it was still hers. But suddenly, the doll developed a soul of its own and no longer belonged to her. She had to draw a clear line with it, which was hard for her to accept.

The feeling of being dumped enraged her. Qi Li had always been strong, and the only time she had been in a relationship, she was the one who broke it off. Now that she had been dumped, it left her feeling unbalanced and insulted.

Even though they were divorced, she had been the one to end things with Jiang Hai. Why had he dumped her instead?

So, she began to learn more about Jiang Hai's past, his present, and even his unsavory friends.

She obtained Fu Yuan's WeChat ID from Jiang Hai's former squad leader and had her assistant add him.

Fu Yuan and his friends had no resistance to adding beautiful women, so they quickly added her. This girl now had full access to what they posted on their Moments. Clearly, Jiang Hai had no idea his brothers had turned traitors.

"Boss Qi, I think you're right. These guys really know how to enjoy life. I don't even have a lobster that big. Ahem… Boss Qi doesn't eat lobster that often, does she?" The girl with glasses, who had seen many ups and downs with Qi Li, was surprised by the photos in Fu Yuan's update.

"Well… cough, by the way, have you found the woman I asked you to check out recently?" Qi Li quickly coughed and almost spoke impulsively about not having eaten lobster herself, but stopped just in time.

"I found her. Her name is Feng Yunchen, a model. We found that she seems to be Liu Zhengyang's mistress…" The assistant handed over the information she had on Feng Yunchen.

"A mistress… make arrangements, I'll treat her to a meal." After glancing at the file, Qi Li narrowed her eyes and spoke softly.

"Take her to a meal? Okay, where should we book it?" The assistant was confused but remained professional.

"Seafood Club, let's go eat lobster." Qi Li thought for a moment, then picked up her coat from the back of her chair and walked out.

Feng Yunchen had been living a dull life lately. Since the 29th, her relationship with Jiang Hai had been somewhat ambiguous. They'd returned to being just ordinary friends, sending a few messages here and there but not talking much. After that night, the relationship seemed even more distant. No one really knew what Feng Yunchen was thinking, but Jiang Hai had moved on completely.

On the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, Feng Yunchen returned to the capital for a new job.

As an internet celebrity, her main job locations were four places: CJ, major auto shows, shooting posters, and endorsements. Of course, her endorsements weren't high-paying, mostly related to web games.

This was the kind of easy money she was happy to make.

That evening, after finishing a shoot for a web game, she turned down a dinner invitation from the lecherous director and left the set. As she walked down the street, a Bentley pulled up in front of her.

"Ms. Feng, our chairman invites you to dinner." The back door opened, and a girl with glasses emerged, smiling. (To be continued.)
