Chapter 224: Entering the Car Dealership Again

"Hi, Kama, over here!" As Jiang Hai's car pulled into the parking lot and the three of them got out, they saw a white guy waving from a distance. Kama, who had exited the back seat, waved back.

"Hi, Louis! Jiang, my friend is over there. Let's go!" After calling out to the boy, Kama couldn't help but speak to Jiang Hai and Cindy Clive. Then, the three of them walked towards the car dealership in the distance.

"Why are you just getting here? Come in!" As they entered, the white guy greeted them with a smile.

Louis, about the same age as Kama and likely a high school student as well, seemed ready to start college this year. Kama had mentioned that he was her classmate.

Louis was tall, around 1.8 meters, with short blonde hair and fair skin. He was wearing the dealership's employee uniform, which, though simple, gave him a more grown-up appearance.

If things went as expected, he probably had feelings for Kama, but it was clear she wasn't interested. When he stepped forward to take her hand, Kama quickly pulled back, sidestepping to stand next to Jiang Hai and the others. The brief moment of discomfort made Louis feel slightly embarrassed. However, American boys mature earlier than their Chinese counterparts, so this was not an unusual occurrence for him.

He smiled and glanced at Jiang Hai and Cindy Clive. When he saw Jiang Hai, he said nothing, but his eyes widened in surprise when he noticed Cindy. He gave a subtle nod, which was a common greeting in the U.S.

"Kama, what's the deal with this guy? Why did he try to hold your hand?" Cindy Clive whispered as she pulled her sister aside.

"Oh, it's nothing. He's the captain of our school's baseball team. He likes me, but I'm not interested. We're just classmates," Kama responded casually, her voice clear enough for Louis to hear.

The boy, walking ahead, winced slightly upon hearing her words, but didn't let it show for long. His tone grew colder as he continued to lead them deeper into the showroom.

"I don't know what kind of car you're looking for," he asked, his voice stiff.

Jiang Hai, understanding that high school relationships could be tricky, simply smiled. It was clear that this boy was hurt, but Jiang Hai wasn't concerned about it.

As the boy glanced toward the entrance, Jiang Hai noticed a middle-aged man with a bulging belly walking in. The boy's eyes lit up, and he quickly excused himself.

"Please, wait a moment," he said, before hurrying off in the direction of the man. His sudden departure left Jiang Hai, Cindy, and Kama standing there, confused.

"What was that about?" Cindy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Heh, looks like our little Kama's not interested, so he won't waste time on us poor folks," Jiang Hai laughed. He couldn't help but see the situation as a cliché he'd often read about in novels.

However, Jiang Hai wasn't interested in putting on a show or pretending to be something he wasn't. After settling into his new life, he no longer felt the need to impress anyone.

"It's fine, let him go. We're here to buy a car, not deal with drama," Jiang Hai said with a shrug. "If he doesn't want to earn a commission, that's his loss."

"I'll go after him and bring him back!" Kama, clearly annoyed, blushed slightly.

At her age, maintaining her pride was important, and Jiang Hai's comment had clearly irritated her.

"Let it go," Jiang Hai said with a smile. "Let's just find another guide. Hey, you, the girl over there, come here!"

Jiang Hai called out to a girl walking toward them, struggling to balance a stack of documents that nearly reached her head. She was about 1.6 meters tall, and the pile was so tall it made her walk unevenly. As she passed, Jiang Hai waved her over.

"Me?" The girl asked, stopping in her tracks in surprise.

"Yeah, you. Are you an employee here? If you have time, could you help us? We're looking to buy a few cars," Jiang Hai explained.

Startled, the girl quickly placed the stack of papers down, patted her clothes, and rushed over.

"Hello! I'm Lu Qing, and I work here as a shopping guide." She introduced herself, smiling warmly. Jiang Hai glanced at her and noticed she seemed to be in her early twenties, with light makeup that enhanced her youthful features.

"Are you Chinese?" Jiang Hai asked, intrigued.

"Yes, I am. Wait... you speak Chinese?" The girl was surprised by his fluent Mandarin.

"Yes, what a coincidence. My name is Jiang Hai, and these are Cindy Clive and Kama Clive," he said with a smile. The familiarity of speaking in Mandarin made him feel more at ease.

"That's a coincidence! So, what kind of cars are you interested in?" Lu Qing asked, feeling more comfortable. "Although I'm Chinese, I have to admit that the quality of cars here is better than in China, and the prices are much lower."

Jiang Hai thought for a moment before replying, "I'm interested in a sedan, an SUV, and an MPV. For now, just these three."

"Wow, that's quite a big purchase! To be honest, this is my first time negotiating a deal," she said with a laugh. "But no worries, the sedan section is close by. Let me take you there."

Meanwhile, Louis, from across the showroom, noticed Jiang Hai following Lu Qing and sneered. He was still speaking with the middle-aged man, but his eyes kept darting over to Jiang Hai.

Louis had done some research on the Clive family. Kama's father was a French chef, forced to retire after an accident, and her mother was a housewife. Cindy was a primary school teacher. From what he knew, their family didn't have much money. He assumed the Clive's were likely here to buy a cheap car for Kama, or possibly for Cindy.

He didn't take Jiang Hai seriously. Jiang Hai's clothes weren't flashy, and Louis assumed he wasn't wealthy. He didn't recognize the mountain lion fur coat Jiang Hai wore. If Louis had known the truth, he might have fainted in embarrassment.
