Chapter 41: The silence

When Pan woke up, his head was throbbing. Brunhilde looked at him so, as if Pan was going to bite her. When the Viking woman hugged her daughter closer to herself, and edged away as far as the chair allowed her, Pan lowered his gaze.

"Brandon is saving Arnold and Michael," Brunhilde said, for the silence was too much for her to bear.

She knew that Pan was still the same Pan who had been there, in the clinic, and had saved the life of her daughter.

But his mana was all wrong. A mother always worried.

"That's good," Pan said, as he shrugged the blanked from himself. "Do you need anything?"

Brunhilde shook her head.

"Good," Pan said, as he stood up. "I'll make something really quick and am coming back."

Pan knew the basics of making a medicinal oil. He had run out, but he still had some dried herbs powder which he could use. Now, he only needed to find some olive oil, and he could have something to rub on his forehead.
