Chapter 19

"Oh, so you have met Henry." Sophie said.

"Henry?" Emma asked.

"Yeah, he is the butler here, he has been here for as long as I can remember." Sophie replied.

Things made sense to Emma now. Henry was o. His usual suit attire.

"Yes, my name is Henry Caldwell and it is a pleasure to meet you again." Henry said to Emma.

"I bumped into him a while ago that's why I wasn't there when you finish your talk with Gabriel and Rachel." Sophie said.

"Alright then, you guys seem pretty close." Emma said.

"Well we are, old henry here is a really good company, especially when the whole drama that went on years ago involving me and the Stone family."

"I see you two are ready to go now." Henry said.

"Yes, I really need to leave this mansion. Don't get me wrong, this whole place is nice and all but I don't like it." Sophie said. "I can say the same about Emma, honestly I have been meaning to ask, how are you still here after all this years?"

"It isn't bad Miss Sophie and they are like family to me so it is definitely okay for me." Henry replied.

They way Sophie and Henry talked was surprising for Emma. She knew that Henry was good to talk with but with the age difference, they talked as if they were close friends.

"Well alright then." Sophie said to Henry. "It was nice catching up with you Henry, to me you are the only sane person in this mansion."

"Same here miss Sophie, it was nice catching up with you."

Sophie started to walk away from Henry and Emma joined her behind. Sophie already went through the door and as Emma was about to go through, Henry called her, "And miss Emma."

Emma turned back, "Yes."

"How was the talk with the masters? I hope it went well."

"Well it went well for one of us at least, that's all I can say." Emma replied.

"Alright, well if I should give you an advice, why don't you keep an open mind in all this, you might end up not regretting it. And Julian is like a son to me, I raised him so I can say that he is not a bad person." Henry said.

Emma did not understand the advice Henry just gave her but a lot has happened to her today already and she just wanted to get some rest, so she nodded and walked away through the door.

Emma and Sophie left the compound and went to the car they came with.

"Well that was that." Emma said as they got into the car.

"Yeah, at least we are done with that."

Sophie started the car and drove off. Emma spent most of the drive thinking about the whole thing, she was worried because she could not think of any way to stop the engagement.

The paper containing Gabriel and Rachel contacts was still in her hand and she did not know what to do with it.

"I will go to work tomorrow, at least doing that will get my mind off things and it will be the one part of my life I can control at the moment." Emma said.

"Yeah I think that will be good. You always seem to be at your best when you work, that is your own world."

They finally arrived at Emma's apartment and Emma slowly came out of the car when Sophie stopped.

"Thanks a lot for coming with me, I really appreciate it and now I am wondering how it would have gone if I went there alone." Emma said to Sophie.

"There is no need to thank me love, I am always here for you." Sophie said. "I can come into your apartment with you if you want, in case you need the company." She suggested.

"No its okay, you have already done a lot for me today and you have your own to life to live. Plus I will just go in and sleep."

"Alight then, if you need me for anything you can always call me." Sophie said.

"I will." Emma closed the door of the car.

Sophie drove off while Emma walked into her apartment building. Emma got into her apartment and the first thing she noticed was that the paper containing Gabriel and Rachel's contact was no longer in her hand.

"Now where did it go?" Emma asked herself. "I must have dropped it when I came out of Sophie's car."

Emma went on to her room, she did not bother about looking for the paper because she was not going to contact them so there was no use having it.

All she wanted to do now was sleep and hopefully wake up tomorrow so that she can go to work and forget about everything. She dropped her purse, changed her clothes and laid down on her bed.

********************************

It was evening now and it was dark. Julian was in a private bar owned by his close friend. It was a very exclusive bar and it was the best in the city.

Julian was in a counter drinking alcohol from a glass and he was a bit tipsy because he has been drinking for a while.

"You know at some point I will have to stop you from drinking before you finish all the drink in my bar." Oliver said as he came up to Julian.

"Even if I wanted, I wouldn't be able to." Julian said.

"All this is really still something, I left the city for few days and I come back today to find out that you are engaged." Oliver said.

"I don't understand anything anymore O, I don't know what my parents want or what they are planning, they always have hidden reasons for doing something this intense." Julian poured more drink into the glass. "Come on, join me and drink."

"Yeah I don't think I can do that, I left the city on business but I still need to finish up something concerning it this night so I need to stay sober."

"How did it go anyway? Did you get the deal?" Julian asked.

"Yeah I did, they will host the event in the bar. I have to say, I was surprise I pulled it off."

"I am not surprised, you are always good at this business thing." Julian said.

"About this girl, does she want this marriage? From what you told me about her and how the engagement came about, maybe she might also not want the marriage."

"Honestly I don't really know, but who won't want it. She works in my company and she is about to get engagement to the son of the founder."

"Have you tried actually talking to her?" Oliver asked.

"I tried that but it did not end well and I am not doing that again, there is no use." Julian replied.
