Year One at the Magic Academy.
Among the new students, three really stand out.
One is Magisa Sacri Odin.
She's the Second Princess.
A truly beautiful girl.
But more than anything, her princess status draws everyone's attention, whether she wants it or not.
Her beauty and grace almost get overshadowed by her title.
Next is Ruine K. Urashima.
She's the Duke of Venice's daughter.
A lovely girl with black hair and black eyes, carrying Eastern blood.
Ever since she was little, people recognized her as a talented child.
Her skill and knowledge of magic are top-tier, and some say even past generations of her family can't compare.
Then there's a boy who gets just as much—or maybe even more—attention than they do.
That boy is Arc Noyadarma.
At eight years old, Arc received the title of Count Garm and immediately started reforming his territory.
He took Garm, once called the worst domain ever, and completely turned it around, winning over the people living there.
It's pretty amazing for someone so young.
Because of his accomplishments and his rank, everyone can't help noticing him.
Interestingly, in the original story, Arc also got attention—just for bad reasons.
He was known as a selfish, arrogant brat.
No one knows how this new reputation will change the story from here on out.
◇ ◇ ◇
Even though this place is called a magic academy, it's still a school… but it's ridiculously luxurious.
In my previous life, I went to public schools—elementary, middle, and high.
Now I'm at this fancy academy... I guess I owe a lot to my noble status.
And since I'm a noble, I didn't have to take any tests to enroll.
That's awesome!
Apparently, commoners had to work really hard to pass the entrance exam.
That's the difference in social rank, right?
Hahaha.
Being born a noble is the best!
I heard we have a princess and a duke's daughter in my year.
I'm staying far away from them.
I can't act superior around people of higher rank.
But with anyone else, I can play the big shot.
I'll totally show off.
At the entrance ceremony, the headmaster talked about everyone studying on "equal footing" or something silly like that.
Equality, yeah right.
Then the student council president, Medusa or whatever, got up and said:
"This academy is based on a merit system, supported by fairness.I rose to this position by my own abilities.Everyone, please work hard here at the Magic Academy and grow through friendly competition. No matter your birth, you can grab any chance you find. But only those who keep at it will really succeed."
I almost burst out laughing.
She's a count like me, which means she's also highborn.
"No matter your birth"? Sure, easy for her to say.
Plus, she's obviously really pretty, the kind of person everyone calls beautiful.
In the end, it's about how you're born. People like her just lecture from above.
It's not about "skill" at all.
I'm gonna use my money and power however I want!
First, I'll show off how rich I am.
There's a cafeteria for nobles and one for commoners.
Normally, I'd go to the nobles' one... but no.
If there's someone higher up there, I can't act superior.
In the commoners' cafeteria, everyone's definitely below me.
So I'll buy the most expensive meal, show it off, and let them burn with jealousy.
Hahaha.
They'll be crying on the inside, I bet.
And I get to watch. It's the best kind of luxury.
So I go to the commoners' cafeteria and make a point of ordering the priciest thing.
They all stare at me.
Don't you wish you were me?
Yeah, you do, peasants!
Hahaha.
Even though it's the "commoners' cafeteria," the most expensive dish is still pretty pricey.
It's just loose change to me, but for them it's a huge amount.
And I'm ordering it like it's nothing. That's what being in the upper class is all about.
There's nothing more entertaining!
Fwahahaha!
