The light they had seen from a distance was now closer, but the more they approached it, the more something felt off. The mist enveloping the forest grew thicker, and the wind blowing from every direction carried a strange, pungent scent, full of threat. Each step they took felt heavier, as if the weight of the world was pressing down on them.
Though hope seemed to rise from that light, the tension in their chests was unavoidable. Ethan led the group, his sword still drawn, ready to face whatever lay ahead. The power he felt inside him grew stronger, but he knew that the fear he felt had not yet ended. The darkness in this forest was stronger than he had imagined.
"Don't get too close," Rowan whispered, his sharp eyes constantly scanning their surroundings. "There's something strange about that light."
Ethan nodded, glancing at the increasingly bright light. "We have to keep moving forward. There's no other choice."
Asha moved closer, her gaze fixed on the light with curiosity. "If this is our hope, we have to face it, no matter what's there."
Lila, who had been calm until now, smiled faintly. "It could be a trap, but we can't retreat now."
They stepped closer, and eventually, they arrived at a massive gate made of black stone. The gate stood arrogantly in the middle of the mist, emitting a pale blue light that illuminated its surroundings. It resembled an ancient gate, with old carvings etched into every side, depicting strange creatures that seemed to come from an era long past.
"This..." Kael took a deep breath, staring at the gate carefully. "This gate... seems connected to Zerathis."
"What should we do?" Rowan asked, anxious. "Are we going to continue?"
Ethan turned his gaze toward the gate. Something within him gave him the feeling that they had reached a very critical point. There was no turning back now. "We have to go in," he replied firmly, though his heart was full of doubt. "There's no other way."
With cautious steps, they moved forward, approaching the gate that emitted the eerie light. As they got closer, a deep, terrifying rumble sounded from inside the gate, as though they had disturbed the peace of the place. Suddenly, the wind howled, striking them with tremendous force, and the mist surrounding them seemed to thicken.
"This isn't a safe place," Asha said in a calm yet wary voice. "We need to move quickly."
However, before they could move further, the gate began to open on its own. The stone doors creaked, slowly but surely, creating an echoing sound throughout the forest. Once the gate was fully open, they could see inside—a long, dark corridor filled with a gloomy blue light.
With no other choice, they stepped into the corridor. Each of their steps echoed in the darkness, and the deeper they went, the more it felt like something was lurking in the shadows, watching them. The fear that had once been hidden now crept into every corner of their minds.
"This feels like a labyrinth," Rowan whispered, his eyes scanning the surroundings cautiously. "We could get lost here."
"Calm down," Kael replied, though he too was worried. "Stay focused. We need to find the core of this place."
In the increasingly dark corridor, they continued cautiously, following the winding path. Time seemed to slow, with each step feeling like a step into uncertainty.
Suddenly, a loud voice echoed from the darkness, shaking the walls of the corridor. "They're coming," the voice whispered, as if from deep within the earth. "The chosen heroes, who will shake the peace of the world."
Ethan stopped, his heart racing. "Who is that?"
"Wait," Lila said quietly, scanning their surroundings. "This... isn't just a voice. This is... magic. Dark power."
"Something bigger is waiting for us," Kael said, his gaze wary as he looked ahead. "This isn't just a trial. This is a great war."
They continued their steps, quicker and more cautious, feeling they were getting closer to a goal, though they didn't know what awaited them. What would they find at the end of this corridor? Only time would tell.
