“Come with me, I want to show you something,” Ginevra said suddenly, I could hear the excitement in his tone.
I raised my gaze, looking up at him to see if he'd explain further, but he didn't. So, I simply allowed him to lead me through the dense forest of towering trees. The leaves overhead created a canopy, dappling the moonlight that filtered through.
“So, are you going to tell me where we are?” I asked, unable to hide my curiosity.
Ginevra looked at me with a playful gleam in his eyes. “You don’t recognize this place do you?” he asked, genuinely curious.
I cast a brief, uncertain glance around, but the thick foliage that surrounded us offered no familiar landmarks. Besides, in my hasty flight, I hadn’t taken the time to note my surroundings.
“Don’t worry, you’ll know it when you see this place,” he reassured me, gently squeezing my hand, which sent a comforting warmth coursing through my veins.
