To Revenge

“JAKE! GINEVRA!” I cried out, panic rising in my chest.

I was about to charge toward them when a sudden force sent me flying backward, slamming me into the ground.

“How could you?!” My voice cracked as tears of anger and pain blurred my vision. “Why?!”

Before I could think, I surged toward Liam, my body trembling with fury. “WHY?!” The word tore from my throat as I threw punches and unleashed every shred of magic I could summon. Liam dodged each attack with maddening ease, his smirk never faltering.

“Come on, Blake. Show me what you’ve got,” he taunted, his voice dripping with mockery.

His fist collided with my face, and the force sent me crashing into the castle’s crumbled remains, landing right beside Jake and Ginevra. My head spun, but as my gaze fell on Jake, dread twisted in my chest. Blood streamed from his ears and nose, his neck twisted at an angle that was horribly wrong.

Ginevra was still breathing, but his breaths were shallow and ragged, each one a struggle.
