Chapter 8: Supplies Gradually Arrive

Karl left the address for the steakhouse staff to deliver the ordered steaks. As for the food supplies, he could directly pick them up from the Walmart warehouse. Fresh, high-quality steaks like these wouldn't be sold outside; even the vacuum-sealed packages available in stores couldn't compare to what was offered in the restaurant. Otherwise, there would be no reason for customers to dine in.

After finishing his meal, Karl prepared to head home when he received a call from the manager of a five-star hotel.

"Mr. Karl, the 500 banquet tables you ordered are ready. Are you available to receive them now?"

"Sure, just bring them over," Karl replied.

Once home, he awaited the delivery of delicious food and drinks. Those 500 banquet tables would be enough for him to feast for two to three years. With eight or nine million still at his disposal, he felt no remorse spending money; instead, he was eager to spend it all.

On his way back, Karl pondered what other dishes he liked. He then placed orders with several major restaurants in Haitian City, requesting each to deliver a hundred banquet tables. He ordered a variety of cuisines from around the world, including various Western dishes, totaling thousands of tables!

At that moment, he essentially secured his meals for half a lifetime.

Before long, the hotel's catering trucks arrived at the entrance of his community.

With two to three dozen vehicles blocking the road, the sight left the neighbors in shock.

Uncle Mike, the security guard, rushed over to stop them, asking what they were there for.

The hotel manager explained the situation, but Uncle Mike insisted that the property owner must come to let them in.

After all, the commotion was too large, and he couldn't easily let them in without knowing what was in the vehicles for the safety of the community.

The hotel manager had no choice but to call Karl.

Karl went downstairs to the entrance where a crowd had gathered, including neighbors from his building and onlookers like Anna and Cherry.

Karl approached Uncle Mike with a smile, "Uncle Mike, these are my food deliveries. Let them in!"

Uncle Mike looked astonished.

"Food deliveries? What are you eating that requires dozens of trucks?"

The surrounding neighbors gasped at the mention of food trucks.

"Wow, that must be at least a few hundred tables! Where is he going to put them?"

"Could it be that something is happening at Karl's house, and he's hosting a banquet?"

"Is he getting married? But a few hundred tables is too much!"

"Did you see? That's from a five-star hotel!"

"Ordering a few hundred tables must cost at least a hundred thousand!"

"Goodness, spending that much on a single banquet! Karl is truly hiding his wealth!"

"I only knew their family was well-off, but now it seems he's a big shot!"

The neighbors whispered among themselves, their gazes toward Karl filled with admiration and awe.

Anna, watching from the side, bit her lip, further solidifying her determination to win Karl over.

She stepped toward him with a smile, "Karl, what have you been busy with lately? Buying so many things."

Karl ignored her, instead offering Uncle Mike a cigarette.

Seeing the owner had arrived, Uncle Mike opened the gate, allowing the hotel's convoy into the community.

Karl led the way, and although he didn't acknowledge Anna, she seemed unfazed, chatting and laughing beside him.

"What's going on at home that you can't share with me? Aren't we good friends?"

"In the future, I hope to get to know you better. Don't treat me like a stranger."

Karl shot her a deep look and coldly replied, "All these things are for my boss. The last time I dined at a Western restaurant, it was his treat."

He sighed, "If only I were really that wealthy."

Anna's expression changed instantly.

"You… you're not joking with me, are you?"

Karl shrugged, "Why would I lie to you? We've known each other for years, and you know my situation."

"My parents have passed away, and I'm just a warehouse supervisor. I don't have any money!"

His explanation left Anna's face shifting between emotions.

She had indeed suspected that he might be a wealthy second-generation heir, at least someone whose family was in a big business.

Karl's parents had been gone for years, and while they left some assets, it didn't qualify him as a wealthy heir.

Now that Karl had openly admitted he wasn't one, all of Anna's doubts were cleared.

She subtly distanced herself from Karl, fixing her hair and forcing a polite smile, "Regardless of whether you're a wealthy heir or not, we're still the best of friends, right? I'm not a materialistic woman."

The emphasis she placed on the word "friends" was intentional.

A manipulative person never burns bridges completely, as they still need backup and admirers to serve them.

Karl smirked and chose not to engage further.

Meanwhile, the hotel staff began unloading tables of exquisite dishes to the location Karl had designated.

Karl, being well-liked, borrowed a storage room in the community's underground area from the property management to temporarily store the food.

Although 500 banquet tables was a massive amount, once packaged in meal boxes, they wouldn't take up too much space.

Karl had ordered only the finest foods—abalone, sea cucumbers, shark fins, Australian lobster, truffles, caviar, and more.

It took a while to move all 500 tables of food into the storage.

Even the hotel manager was taken aback; after years of managing, it was his first time encountering such a large takeout order.

Karl told them to continue moving everything into the storage without worry.

Once the staff left, he discreetly stored all the food into his alternate space.

Others might have suspected something was off with Karl, but in this busy world, no one had the time to concern themselves with an unrelated person.

So, whether it was neighbors or hotel staff, they only exchanged a few comments, but no one truly paid attention.

Before long, all 500 tables of food were safely tucked away in Karl's alternate space.

That evening, Carl received a call from Harvey, the manager of Battle Dragon Company.

Harvey informed Carl that they were ready and could come over at any time to set up the safe house for him. He asked when it would be convenient for Carl to start the work.

Carl replied directly, "You can come over tomorrow." He planned to move into a hotel for the time being.

After discussing the safe house, Carl was waiting for further news from Harvey.

He had one more important matter to discuss with Harvey: obtaining the Equality Device.

After a moment of hesitation, Harvey lowered his voice and said to Carl, "If you really need something like that, I can recommend a contact. However, it might be a bit pricey."

Carl nodded, fully aware of that.

But money was no longer a concern for him.

"That's not an issue, as long as the quality is good."

Harvey responded casually, "Alright then, I'll make the introduction for you. I'll notify you of the transaction location in three days."
