The eerie glow of the mana crystals cast long shadows over the cavern floor, where the bodies of Dongsuk's men lay lifeless. The battle had been quick—too quick. These so-called "Lizards" had been nothing more than desperate scavengers, hoping to prey on the weak.
Too bad for them.
Po and Jin-woo stood back-to-back in the middle of the battlefield, their blades dripping with fresh crimson. The scent of blood mixed with the dungeon's damp, mineral-rich air, creating a thick, heavy atmosphere.
Po rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. "That was... underwhelming."
Jin-woo wiped his blade on one of the fallen men's shirts, his expression unreadable. "They were never strong. Just cowards with weapons."
Only one remained.
Hwang Dongsuk.
The bear-like man was on his knees, his face twisted in equal parts rage and desperation. He panted heavily, sweat drenching his forehead. His eyes darted between Po and Jin-woo, calculating his next move.
"I-I swear," Dongsuk stammered, his voice laced with false bravado, "if you kill me, my younger brother will come for you."
Po's brows lifted. "Oh yeah?" He tilted his head. "And who's that?"
Dongsuk's lips curled into a grin, a crazed glint in his eyes. "Hwang Dongsoo," he spat. "S-Rank Hunter. You might be strong, but when he finds out what you did, you're both dead men."
Po only laughed. Not a forced, sarcastic laugh, but a genuinely amused one. "Oh, that guy? Yeah, I already knew about him." His golden eyes gleamed with excitement. "He sounds fun."
Jin-woo remained silent, his grip on his blade tightening. He knew Hwang Dongsoo was trouble, but that was a problem for another time. Right now, they had one loose end to tie up.
Dongsuk, seeing that his words held no sway, clenched his fists. "You little shits! You think you can just—"
Po didn't wait for him to finish.
He moved faster than the human eye could perceive, his sword slicing through the air like a whisper.
A sharp gasp escaped Dongsuk's lips. He looked down.
His stomach was split open.
The pain barely had time to register before Jin-woo followed up, his own sword flashing in a clean, precise arc.
SHNK!
Dongsuk's head left his shoulders, his expression frozen in shock as his body crumpled to the ground. His severed head hit the cavern floor with a sickening thud.
Silence.
Jinho, who had been standing frozen at the edge of the battlefield, swallowed hard. He had seen death before, but this… this was different.
Po let out a deep breath and sheathed his weapon. "Well. That's that."
Jin-woo simply nodded, checking his system notifications. A small smirk tugged at his lips.
[Quest Complete: Eliminate All Threats.]
Po flexed his fingers, feeling the lingering adrenaline in his veins. "So, dinner?" he joked, breaking the tension.
Jin-woo snorted. "You just killed a guy and you're already thinking about food?"
Po gave him a lazy grin. "I'm always thinking about food."
Jinho, still pale, muttered, "You guys are insane."
The two killers laughed as they exited the dungeon, their bond stronger than ever.
The world had no idea what was coming.
But soon, they would.
Po turned to Jinho and asked him with a face of Complete and utter no-nonsense-expression,
"Wanna Join?"
Jinho shook his head in mock-exhasperation and simply went along with these two Hunter-friends of his.
After a nice and filling meal, Jinwoo and Po parted ways with Jinho and made their way home, this Dungeon Raid marked their beginning as Hunters, and Po's unregistered self needs to get a License or he might be seen as some f'ed up version of a lunatic vigilante-hunter, or whatever helps them Hunters sleep at night.
AN: Would you join Jinwoo and Po in a meal? (You don't have to pay)
