Chapter 18: Cold

The entire day, Aurora waited for Olivia to open her backpack, but Olivia remained busy.

At last, Aurora subtly hinted, "Sister, why don't you check your belongings? Maybe the fairy godmother has placed the gift in one of them."

"Aurora don't disturb me, I am doing some important work," Olivia replied absent-mindedly while scrolling.

Even after trying for a while, she found no VJ ring to borrow.

"Maybe...you should check, under your pillow, or wallet or backpack..."

"Aurora." Olivia's slightly fatigued voice sounded, "Leave me alone! Don't you see I am busy?"

'It's better to leave. She will find it eventually.' Aurora thought and left.

Seeing Aurora's retracting figure, Olivia sighed, her heart was filled with remorse.

She pressed her head with her index finger and thumb and muttered,

"Why am I venting my anger on her...Stupid of me..."

After dinner, when Aurora was setting her pillow, she was hugged from behind, followed by Olivia's exhausted voice,

"Sorry...I shouldn't have shouted at you."

Aurora smiled. However she quickly hid it and said with a serious expression,

"Sister if you truly feel sorry, check your belongings, maybe you will find what you are looking for."

Olivia stared at the serious expression and nodded, "Fine, I'll do it. Now go and sleep."

Aurora: "..."

At night. 

Aurora woke up, and after ensuring that everyone was asleep, she quietly sneaked to where Olivia's backpack was and took out the box.

To make it more obvious and let Olivia see, she placed the box on the table.

Suddenly Aurora's nose started to tingle.

'Oh no...' Aurora thought and hurriedly ran in the kitchen's direction. Midway through the hallway she couldn't stop herself and sneezed.

"Achoo!" Her sneeze wasn't loud, however in the dead silent night, it echoed loudly, causing Theodore and Lucas to stir in their sleep.

Aurora looked at them cautiously and heaved a sigh of relief when they didn't wake up.

She tip-topped to the bed and slowly settled herself between Olivia and Adriana.

'Strange...why do I feel the temperature has suddenly dropped...' Aurora muttered as she draped herself with the worn-out yet slightly fluffy blanket.

The next day.

Olivia was woken up by Adriana, who was getting ready for her part-time job. 

"Wake up, go and make the breakfast, mom is not feeling well today."

"Why don't you make it!" Olivia said with furrowed brows, her eyes were closed, as she tightly held the blanket.

Adriana sighed,

"I am running late."

"Then ask Theodore." Olivia wasn't ready to back down.

"He left early. He got a role as a background dancer." Adriana informed as she fixed her shirt.

"How about Lucas?" Olivia opened her eyes with difficulty.

"Lucas has left for his part-time job too. Now stop being lazy."

"Uh! I hate my life!" Olivia shouted and went to the bathroom.

After taking a shower, she made breakfast and even prepared ingredients for lunch. 

She served the breakfast to her mother and checked Mary's condition before, returning to the kitchen.

"Aurora, wake up," Olivia gently called. She shouted five to six times, but when Aurora didn't respond, she became irritated and marched into the room with a displeased expression.

"Hey you brat..." Olivia held Aurora's forearm and halted when she realized Aurora was burning hot.

She checked Aurora's temperature and worry appeared on her face,

"Oh god...she is running a fever," Olivia muttered and quickly informed Mary.

Mary who had a headache, climbed out of her bed and checked Aurora.

"Aurora wake up." Mary lightly patted Aurora's cheeks.

"Hm?" Aurora opened her eyes with difficulty.

"Dear do you feel unwell?"

"I feel hot..." Aurora said in a drowsy state. "I even have a sore throat. Water..."

Olivia hurriedly helped Aurora to drink water.

Mary, on the other hand, helped Aurora to brush her teeth, fed her breakfast and medicine, and tugged her into bed.

Olivia asked worriedly,

"Mom, do you think it's only fever and not any serious problem?"

Mary nodded, 

"Don't worry, from all the symptoms she has told till now, she most likely has tonsils and fever. The same has happened more than 30 to 40 times."

Olivia nodded, "Alright. You go and rest I will prepare the lunch too."

"Thank you, sweetheart." Mary gently said.

After Mary left, Olivia was about to leave too when her clothes were suddenly tugged by someone.

When she looked down, she saw Aurora's little hand clutching her(Olivia's) pants.

"Check...check...the..ta...ble..." Aurora said with difficulty.

"Huh?" Olivia was confused and looked at the table. There she saw a box.

Seeing the box, she was surprised.

"Oh god! That...is that a VJ ring box?"

Olivia's heart leaped. She walked up to the table and held the box.

With trembling hands, when she opened the box.
