Chapter 62: Abuse

Aurora gasped, her eyes wide with shock. "He... he pushed you? And you lost the baby?"

Emily nodded, her hands clenched into fists. 

"Yes. I still remember that night so clearly. We were arguing about money. I told him that things would get better and that we just had to be patient. But he was so drunk, so angry. He yelled at me, called me useless, and then... he pushed me."

Her voice trembled, and she took a deep breath before continuing. 

"I remember falling. I remember the pain. And then... everything went black. When I woke up in the hospital, the doctor told me I had lost the baby."

Aurora felt her heart ache for Emily. "That must have been so painful. I'm so sorry, Emily."

"That didn't make me give up on him Aurora," Emily said in an eerily calm tone.

"What was it?"

"I only have a grandfather, my parents died when I was young. When he heard I miscarried my life was in danger and he died of a heart attack.
