Chapter 38: The Monsterous Spider In The Wild.

Thalina stood in front of the two muscular guards stationed at the gates. Unlike last time, these weren't the same males.

Which explained why they looked so confused seeing her alone, trying to leave without a male.

"We really can't let you out without seeing your male, female," one of them said, sounding regretful—like he was personally heartbroken to deny her request.

Thalina barely resisted rolling her eyes. She had been here for gods knew how long, trying to convince these males that her "male" was coming soon.

An obvious lie.

But what annoyed her most was how they kept indirectly calling her out for it.

They clearly didn't believe her, yet they didn't have the guts to outright say it. And judging by their clueless expressions, they didn't even realize who she was.

That meant she had an advantage.

Time to play on their emotions.
