Chapter 97: Finally Getting Things Right

The sassy stag snickered. "Oh yes, what a tragedy. You'll have to go through life being ridiculously pretty. My heart bleeds for you."

Thalina shot her a glare.

But before she could throw a sarcastic remark back, the other stags began leaving, one by one, melting into the trees with quiet elegance.

Finally, only one remained.

The baby stag from earlier.

It plopped down beside her, curling its legs neatly under its tiny body. Its big, bright eyes watched her with open curiosity.

Thalina sighed and tilted her head back. "Shouldn't you be following your parents?"

The baby shook its head. "They'll come get me."

Thalina raised a brow. "So you're just gonna sit here and judge me?"

The baby giggled. "No. I was just thinking."

She eyed the tiny creature warily. "Thinking about what?"

The baby's ears twitched. "You're really pretty."

Thalina snorted. "Yeah, yeah, I got that part."

"But you don't like it?"
