A Hollow and a Crow

After seeing the detached head of the driver, Raven couldn't think of anything. He felt numb and hollow.

He thought to himself:

'Shouldn't I feel something after seeing the head of someone I was talking to just a moments ago, lying there in the upturned car in front of me?'

'Shouldn't I feel sad?'

'Shouldn't I feel like crying or shouting?'

'But I'm not feeling anything—not a single emotion in my heart for the man who drove me home from school for an entire year.'

"Ah, I really am a hollow monster who doesn't feel anything huh?."

After staring at the driver for a few more seconds, Raven examined himself. Blood was flowing from his head, and his body was covered in numerous scratches.

"Cough* cough*"

Blood spilled from his mouth as he coughed.

Raven spoke with an emotionless face:

"I'm going to die, I think. Not that I'm attached to living, but dying like this really suits a hollow person like me. Not a single person here to mourn for me."

Raven slowly crawled out through the shattered window of the car and sat on the road, leaning against the broken vehicle.

Shattered glass and broken car parts littered the road, and inside the car, a headless body remained in the front seat.

Raven's entire body was soaked in blood, his left arm broken and crimson blood dripping from his head.

Raven looked up at the blue sky and saw the black raven still flying there. He smiled slightly:

"You really are an omen of death, huh?"

Looking at his condition, he knew he had mere minutes to live. Most people would feel fear or sadness knowing they were dying, but Raven just smiled, gazing at the blue sky and the black raven.

"Here I am with just a few minutes left to live on an empty road where no one can help me. They must be still working to make more money—my father, one of the richest people in our country, and my mother, a world-famous actress. I have two siblings too: my brother following in my father's footsteps and my sister in my mother's."

Raven chuckled.

"And here their youngest son is dying, and they can't do anything. Their little brother is dying, and they can't do anything. Will they even shed a tear when they see my lifeless body? I bet they won't even look at it for more than a few minutes... why? Because they have their precious jobs to earn more money."

The black raven suddenly stopped flying, descended, and perched on the broken white car.

"Ah, finally a worthy ending for a hollow like me. At least someone's here to watch me die, even if it's just a dirty black crow."

Raven was slowly losing his eyesight. He couldn't feel his hands anymore; the pain was fading away, and his eyelids were growing heavy.

[Step] [Step]

Just as his eyes were about to close, he saw two massive shadows on the road. He struggled to look up.

Two men in black suits stood before him—one as big as a giant, the other well-built. His blurry vision prevented him from seeing their faces.

"Hey, at this rate he's going to die! It's all because of you! Why are you so slow, you giant monkey!"

The giant man said:

"Why are you making a fuss over this little rat? He's still breathing, right? Just heal him enough so we can bring him to the Broken Grave."

The well-built person glared at him with furious eyes and said:

"We can't let this rat die—he's the youngest son of the Morrigon household! The son of Augustus Morrigon! If he dies, our whole plan will fail!"

The giant man looked at Raven and said:

"Why don't you shut that mouth of yours and heal him first? We don't have all day to argue here."

The well-built person looked at him murderously but then sighed and turned to Raven.

"Let's take him to the car and treat him so he can at least stay alive. We can fully heal him after we reach Broken Grave."

The giant man nodded and hoisted Raven's broken body onto his shoulder, walking toward the jet-black car.

As the two men walked toward the car, the black raven stared at them.

If a raven truly brings an omen of death, then whose death awaits in the distant future?

[Is it the broken hollow boy or the persons carrying the hollow?]
