THE GAME BEGINS

The next few days passed in a blur of preparation. Ella and Grace worked tirelessly, piecing together the fragmented puzzle that was The Circle and The Order. With James's help, they set their plan into motion, knowing full well the risks they were taking. Their every move had to be calculated, their every word guarded.

Ella could feel the tension in the air, like an electric current buzzing just beneath the surface. The stakes were higher than they'd ever been. But she couldn't turn back now. She had made a promise to her parents—and to herself—to see justice served.

The plan was simple, at least on paper: expose The Circle to the media, prove their connection to the highest levels of government, business, and law enforcement, and bring everything crashing down. It was a dangerous game, but Ella had never been more ready.

It was late evening when they gathered in the small, cluttered apartment that had become their base of operations. Grace sat at the table, her laptop open in front of her, her fingers flying across the keys as she worked on contacting the right people. James sat nearby, his eyes scanning the room, ever watchful. Ella stood by the window, gazing out into the night, her thoughts heavy with the weight of what was about to unfold.

"Do you ever wonder if we're making a mistake?" Grace asked, breaking the silence.

Ella turned, meeting her friend's gaze. "Every day," she admitted, her voice quiet but resolute. "But we can't let fear stop us now. My parents didn't have a choice. They were killed because they got too close to the truth. We're still alive—still breathing—and we owe it to them, to everyone they've hurt, to bring this to light."

Grace nodded slowly, but her brow furrowed with concern. "But what if they find out? What if we're already too late?"

Ella didn't answer right away. Instead, she took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. She couldn't afford to doubt herself now. "We've been careful. We've covered our tracks. The information we have, it's solid. We just have to trust that we can get it out there before they catch on."

James spoke up from across the room, his voice calm but carrying an edge of urgency. "Time's running out. The Circle is a beast that won't stop until it devours everything in its path. We need to move fast."

Ella glanced at him, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I know. But we can't rush it. If we make a mistake now, we'll be exposed before we even have a chance to act."

"Then let's do it right," Grace said firmly. "I've made contact with a few key journalists. One of them is meeting us tomorrow."

Ella's heart quickened. "Who?"

"A reporter named Sarah Price," Grace replied. "She's known for her investigative work. If anyone can help us get this out to the public, it's her."

Ella nodded. "Alright. We meet her tomorrow. We show her everything."

The next day, the meeting with Sarah Price took place in a secluded corner of a café, far from the watchful eyes of anyone who might be looking for them. Sarah was a sharp woman in her late thirties, with dark, cropped hair and piercing green eyes. She exuded the confidence of someone who had seen and uncovered things most people could never even imagine.

Ella didn't waste any time. She slid the folder across the table, filled with the evidence they had painstakingly gathered. Documents, photographs, and testimonies. Proof of the corruption that ran deep within The Circle. Proof of the people who had helped orchestrate her parents' deaths.

Sarah opened the folder, her eyes scanning the contents. She didn't speak for a long while, her expression unreadable. Ella felt her pulse quicken, the silence between them growing heavier with each passing second.

Finally, Sarah looked up, her gaze fixed on Ella. "You're sure this is all real?"

Ella nodded. "We've double-checked everything. We're not playing games here. These people have blood on their hands. My parents were just the beginning. If we don't stop them, they'll destroy more lives."

Sarah set the folder down, her fingers tapping against the table as she processed the information. "This is explosive," she said quietly. "It's going to shake this city to its core. If I take this to my editor, it could bring down some very powerful people. People who are willing to do anything to protect themselves."

"That's why we need you," Grace said, her voice steady. "We don't have the resources or the power to do this alone. But you can get this out there. You can make sure they don't get away with it."

Sarah was silent for a moment longer, weighing the options. Ella could see the wheels turning in her mind, the risk, the danger. But then, as if coming to a decision, Sarah finally spoke. "I'll do it. I'll help you bring them down. But I need your trust, all of you. This is going to be dangerous. If this story gets out, there will be no turning back."

Ella's heart swelled with a mixture of relief and dread. They were one step closer, but the path ahead was still fraught with peril. "We're in this together," she said firmly.

"Good," Sarah replied. "We'll go public with this in a week. It'll give us time to prep, to get everything lined up. But once it's out, we need to be ready for the fallout."

The week leading up to the publication felt like a slow-motion descent into chaos. Every day, Ella felt herself growing more paranoid, more aware of the eyes watching her from the shadows. She couldn't afford to slip up—not now, not when they were so close to bringing everything to light.

But as the days passed, she began to feel something else too—a sense of anticipation, of purpose. The endgame was within reach, and though the risks were higher than ever, the thought of seeing The Circle fall, of finally bringing justice to her parents, filled her with determination.
