Chapter 139 - The Hand Attacks, The Primal Demon Appears!
Night quietly descended upon the villa where Gilgamesh resided. Inside the master bedroom, Colleen lay naked on the bed, her body utterly exhausted as if every bone had been shattered. She was breathing heavily, barely able to move a finger. The memories of what had just transpired brought a blush to her otherwise stoic face.
Colleen couldn't understand what had happened. In her original plan, if Gilgamesh had asked her to share his bed, she intended to use every excuse to refuse. And if she couldn't avoid it, she had a vial of specialized sedative that could knock out even a tiger.
Yet after spending just one day with him, Colleen found herself inexplicably drawn to Gilgamesh. So when the moment arrived, instead of following through with her plan, she hesitated—and now, things had reached this point.
Having just finished their own battle, Gilgamesh slowly got out of bed. His movement caught Colleen's attention, and despite her fatigue, she forced herself to look over.
Seeing Gilgamesh's perfectly sculpted form and handsome face, Colleen couldn't help but feel captivated. Without thinking, she asked, "Where are you going?"
Gilgamesh turned his deep, ruby-like eyes toward her, smiling slightly. "There will be rats sneaking in tonight. I wouldn't want my woman's body to be seen by such vermin."
Colleen blushed at his words, but a warmth filled her gaze as she smiled back, saying no more. After Gilgamesh left the bedroom, despite her exhaustion, sleep eluded Colleen.
Sometime later, the phone on the nightstand rang. With some effort, Colleen picked it up and saw it was her master, Bakuto, calling.
As she held the phone, Gilgamesh's earlier words about Bakuto being one of the founders of The Hand echoed in her mind, making her expression more complicated. Even now, Colleen didn't want to believe that the master who had so diligently trained her was secretly tied to The Hand.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she answered, "Master."
Hearing her call him 'master' gave Bakuto a sense of relief. According to their arrangement, Colleen was only supposed to address him this way if she was safe and maintaining her cover near Gilgamesh.
Bakuto didn't waste time with small talk and got straight to the point. "I've received information that tonight, someone will attempt to assassinate Gilgamesh."
"With Gilgamesh now leading Kingpin's forces, he poses an even greater threat than The Hand. Tonight is a good opportunity. You should be ready to observe his abilities—record any evidence you can discreetly. This will help us deal with him and Kingpin's underworld empire later."
Bakuto's logic made sense—at least on the surface, Colleen thought.
So, despite the growing doubts planted by Gilgamesh's earlier words, Colleen nodded and agreed, "Understood."
While her subconscious had already started trusting Gilgamesh, Colleen wasn't ready to confront Bakuto directly without proof. She was smart—if Bakuto truly was after Gilgamesh's secret to immortality, she could feed him some mixed truths to force his hand and reveal his true intentions.
After hanging up the phone, Colleen fought against her body's discomfort and got out of bed. She put on a bathrobe and prepared to find Gilgamesh. So many mysteries surrounded him—his origins, how he had subdued Kingpin, and most intriguingly, his connection to the secret of eternal life.
Meanwhile, it wasn't just Colleen and The Hand making moves.
Outside the villa, four figures in costume were already in position: Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Deadpool were all watching the premises closely.
According to the intel Stick had passed on, The Hand was sending assassins to kill Gilgamesh tonight, an opportunity the heroes didn't want to miss.
Even Natasha (Black Widow), who had successfully infiltrated Kingpin's organization, had confirmed this. Kingpin himself knew about the assassination but chose not to intervene, seemingly content to see the outcome.
This revelation was crucial, as it hinted that Kingpin might not be truly loyal to Gilgamesh. The heroes could use this information to sow discord between the two if necessary.
Inside the villa, Gilgamesh lounged lazily on the couch, sipping wine and watching TV. On the screen, Tony Stark, the CEO of Stark Industries, was giving an interview.
Host: "I heard you're planning to host a gala soon, Mr. Stark. Could I get an invitation?"
Tony: "Of course. I'll have my assistant send you one."
Host: "Thank you so much!"
Whoosh!
Without warning, Gilgamesh casually tilted his head, dodging a bullet that had been fired at him. The TV, however, wasn't as fortunate and shattered from the impact.
Gilgamesh's expression didn't change.
Upstairs, Colleen, watching from the shadows, saw Gilgamesh effortlessly evade the bullet but didn't feel any relief. In her line of sight, as the bullet was fired, a ninja clad in black appeared by Gilgamesh's side, a katana aimed at his neck.
The shot had been a decoy—the real attack was from the ninja aiming to decapitate Gilgamesh.
Colleen recognized the attacker as one of The Hand's elite ninja. The Hand was infamous for its deadly assassins, and the strength of their ninjas could be identified by their attire. Red-clad ninjas were the foot soldiers, while black-clad ones, like this attacker, were elite fighters.
Without hesitation, Gilgamesh raised his hand, his voice calm and steady. "Hado #4: Byakurai."
Boom!
Before Colleen could shout a warning, a bolt of white lightning struck the black-clad ninja, leaving him charred and motionless on the floor. The scent of burnt flesh filled the air.
Colleen fell silent, her pupils dilating in shock. Not only was Colleen stunned, but outside, Punisher, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Deadpool were left speechless.
As seasoned heroes, they had sharp senses and keen instincts. Yet they had just witnessed Gilgamesh, with nothing more than a flick of his finger, summon a bolt of lightning and strike down the assassin.
Even Deadpool, known for his eccentric behavior, felt his curiosity grow.
"Well, standing here won't get us answers," Deadpool muttered, making a move toward the villa. He was confident not because he thought he could defeat Gilgamesh, but because of his powerful healing factor.
Deadpool, once known as Wade Wilson, had been a terminal cancer patient before undergoing an experiment with the Weapon X program, which gave him a healing factor similar to Wolverine's. As a result, no matter how severe his injuries, he would always regenerate.
This gave him the confidence to approach danger head-on.
Inside the villa, Gilgamesh hadn't killed the red-clad ninjas that followed. Instead, he restrained them. Not out of mercy, but because he wanted to trace them back to The Hand's base. His ultimate goal was to gain control of The Hand and its secrets.
Furthermore, through The Hand's five founders, Gilgamesh hoped to locate Kunlun, a legendary city filled with mystical secrets, including the Dragon Bones, which could grant immortality.
To most, these treasures were irresistible. For Gilgamesh, they were merely tools to accomplish his mission.
Standing tall, Gilgamesh gazed at one of the kneeling ninjas before him. Instead of asking questions, he used his omniscient powers to peer directly into the ninja's mind. But what he found made him frown.
The ninja had no inner thoughts—he was more like a puppet, devoid of any will.
It wasn't just one; all the ninjas shared this trait. Were they all mentally conditioned to prevent mind-reading?
Suddenly, a strange, eerie sound broke the silence.
Gilgamesh turned to see the black-clad ninja, the one he had struck down earlier, rising to his feet. His eyes glowed red, like a demon's, and he spoke in a raspy voice. "The ancient Hero King, Gilgamesh. Offer your body to me, and I will grant you the honor of merging with me."
Gilgamesh raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "The Primal Demon—Beast. I wonder, how do you compare in power to Ancient One?"
