About half an hour ago.
The circular spaceship vanished after dropping off Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.
When it reappeared, it was hovering over Wakanda! At the same time, two insect-like alien warships broke through the atmosphere, heading straight for Wakanda!
The team, originally prepared to assist Peter and his group, froze in shock.
This sudden turn of events split the team into two factions.
One faction, led by Doctor Strange and Black Panther, insisted on sticking to the original plan: heading to New York to support Peter and the others in eliminating Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.
Doctor Strange's motivation was clear—his artifact was in New York, and he couldn't afford to lose it.
Black Panther's reasons stemmed from his confidence in Wakandan technology and his concern for Peter.
Black Panther was a straightforward man. He believed in doing what was right, and once he decided, he followed through. Peter had saved his life, and now he felt compelled to protect Peter at all costs.
The other faction, led by M'Baku, was more conservative.
M'Baku didn't care about Peter or the Eye of Agamotto. His priority was Wakanda, his home. With alien invaders threatening his land, his duty was to protect it first.
He even harbored some resentment toward Black Panther.
This battle never should have been fought on Wakandan soil. It was Black Panther's peculiar sense of responsibility that turned Wakanda into a battlefield.
But Black Panther was well aware of this.
His goal was to open Wakanda to the world, transforming it from an isolated kingdom into a truly civilized nation with meaningful international connections. Achieving this required more than just planting Wakanda's flag in the LHG.
On one hand, Wakanda needed to demonstrate its military might to deter potential threats.
On the other hand, they had to showcase their benevolence as a stepping stone to greater prominence.
Another reason for Black Panther's decision was his confidence in Wakanda's strength.
If Wakanda couldn't win this war, even with outside help, then no alliance could make a difference.
At that moment, a portal opened.
On the other side of the portal was the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York.
The portal was created by Wong.
But standing in front of it was Bruce Banner!
Through Banner, they learned a series of shocking updates.
He recounted how he and Thor were ambushed by Thanos and his Black Order aboard the Asgardian refugee ship.
Loki was killed. Thor lost an eye. Even Banner himself was forced back into his human form.
As Heimdall lay dying, he used the last of his power to send Banner back to Earth, choosing the Sanctum Sanctorum as the destination due to its intense magical energy.
Thus, the Sanctum became the setting for a surreal moment: a green giant falling from the sky.
After grasping the situation, Wong wasted no time and immediately sent Banner to Wakanda.
Wong then returned to the Sanctum.
Hearing Banner's account of the escalating crisis, Doctor Strange and the others decided they couldn't wait any longer.
Their plan was to head to Avengers HQ, retrieve Peter and his team—regardless of whether the original mission succeeded—and then confront the enemy directly in Wakanda.
After all, a failed plan wouldn't cost them much.
However, when Doctor Strange tried to open a portal, he discovered he couldn't.
It turned out that Thanos' spaceship had emitted some kind of wave that disrupted the surrounding space, effectively sealing off the entire area.
As a result, even if Doctor Strange managed to open a portal, the spatial disturbance would render it unstable.
This instability could lead to severe consequences.
Left with no other choice, Doctor Strange decided to leave Wakanda with a few support personnel.
Once they moved beyond the range of the spatial disruption, they would be able to open the portal normally.
Meanwhile, the Wakandan border had already turned into a battlefield.
In the skies above, the hatches of two insect-like Chitauri motherships opened wide, releasing an overwhelming swarm of Chitauri soldiers.
These soldiers carried cluster weapons and laser guns.
However, their weapons were no real threat to Wakanda's energy shield.
After a futile barrage, the Chitauri soldiers regrouped near the motherships.
Moments later, the tops of the two insect-like motherships began to glow.
Zzzzzhhhhh!
Two beams of concentrated laser, each about four or five meters thick, shot toward Wakanda, colliding with the energy shield and causing ripples to spread across its surface.
These beams were clearly the main cannons of the Chitauri motherships—immensely powerful and capable of sustained fire.
Black Panther frowned as he studied a 3D holographic projection in front of him.
The projection accurately simulated the ongoing scene outside Wakanda.
With a quick swipe of his hand, several numerical readings appeared around the edges of the energy shield displayed in the projection.
"We can't let them keep firing; it will weaken the overall integrity of the energy shield," Black Panther said firmly. "Order the nearest Panther Tooth Cannons to concentrate fire and take them down!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Near the energy shield, several massive vibranium-tipped spears extended from a mountainside, pointing skyward.
Moments later, dazzling beams of white light shot out from the spearheads, converging on one of the insect-like Chitauri motherships.
The mothership also activated an energy shield, but it was far inferior to Wakanda's.
It couldn't withstand the concentrated firepower of the vibranium cannons.
Within seconds, the mothership was pierced through and exploded, plummeting from the sky in a fiery wreck.
Chitauri soldiers that had been stationed outside the mothership scrambled to escape the crash zone. Soon after, they received an order for an all-out assault and charged toward Wakanda's energy shield with reckless abandon.
In the Wakandan command hall, Black Panther gave a rousing command: "First squadron of the Royal Guard, move out! Wakanda forever!"
"Wakanda forever!"
The voices of Wakandan warriors echoed near the shield.
The soldiers quickly moved to the shield's edge, forming a tight formation. They unleashed a barrage of laser fire into the air.
The laser beams wove into a massive net, shredding the advancing Chitauri soldiers into pieces in an instant.
High above, aboard the hovering circular spaceship, Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight stood side by side.
Proxima Midnight stared coldly at the scene below and said, "We must analyze the strength of this shield and collect sample data to prepare for Lord Thanos' full-scale assault. Order the Chitauri to intensify their attack!"
Clang!
Another Chitauri insect-like mothership on the periphery began advancing, releasing more Chitauri soldiers as it moved.
These soldiers charged at Wakanda's energy shield with suicidal determination.
This intensified assault also created complications for Doctor Strange and his team, who were trying to move out of the range of the spatial disruption.
