"Peter?" Gwen's eyes were locked onto Peter, watching his every move intently.
"I'm fine, Gwen," Peter exhaled deeply and extended his palm.
Suddenly, thin black tendrils emerged from his smooth palm, swiftly covering it before creeping up his wrist and spreading along his entire arm. Eventually, they stopped at his shoulder.
At this moment, his hand had taken on a black-and-red appearance, resembling the texture of a symbiote suit.
"Peter?!" Gwen stepped forward in shock.
Peter responded, "I'm fine. This is… my new suit—the Vengeance Symbiote Suit!"
"The Vengeance Symbiote Suit?!" Gwen was astonished. "You tamed it?"
Peter smirked slightly and replied, "No, I killed it."
"...Huh???"
Peter gave a brief explanation.
Earlier, his quantum energy had completely enveloped the Vengeance Symbiote and forcefully infused it with an overwhelming surge of energy, which caused catastrophic damage to its body.
In the end, after prolonged torment, the consciousness that the Vengeance Symbiote had originally developed was unknowingly extinguished, leaving behind nothing more than a lifeless mass of symbiote matter.
However, Peter discovered that he could still control it.
Since only a very small amount remained, it could currently only cover one of his arms at most.
Simply put, what now resided in Peter's body was a completely new Vengeance Symbiote.
It was like how King Piccolo from Dragon Ball reincarnated into Piccolo Jr., becoming a blank slate. This new Vengeance Symbiote was the same—it was a clean slate, ready for Peter to shape however he pleased.
No matter how he molded it, in the end, it would become an extension of him!
Whoosh—
The Vengeance Symbiote flowed rapidly over Peter's arm before detaching and forming a longsword in his hand.
The longsword then morphed into a short spear, then a hammer, then sharp claws… It shifted into various forms according to Peter's will.
Peter gradually began to grasp the wonders of the symbiote suit—
Infinite transformations!
Extreme adaptability!
And incredible concealment!
Just like how his quantum energy was hidden within his cells, Peter could now store the Vengeance Symbiote within the crevices of his muscles. Whenever needed, it could emerge from his body for protection.
Compared to the symbiote suits Gwen and the others wore, Peter's had one major advantage—stealth.
By keeping the symbiote hidden within his muscles, Peter was in a constant state of enhancement. His muscle strength was amplified, boosting his speed, power, and overall combat capabilities at all times!
This meant a direct increase in his combat strength!
Now that the biggest obstacle had been dealt with, everything else became much clearer.
Dr. Connors, after confirming that Peter was not losing control, still cautioned him to remain vigilant about any potential threats the Vengeance Symbiote might pose.
Of course, even without being told, Peter was already well aware of the risks.
Until the danger of the Vengeance Symbiote was completely eliminated, he decided to keep it mostly dormant within his muscle tissue, tightly regulated by his quantum energy.
Moreover, when it came to the most critical part of the human body—his brain—Peter absolutely would not allow the symbiote anywhere near it.
Not even his neck!
As long as it remained attached only to his arms or legs to enhance his strength, there was no need to take the risk of letting it reach his head.
Even if it seemed like the Vengeance Symbiote had been fully "purified," who could say for sure?
But to completely abandon it? That wasn't an option either.
Opportunities to enhance one's strength don't come often.
If the benefits far outweigh the risks, then it's worth doing.
With that decision made, the three of them prepared to return to the other side of the district.
By this time, Paper Vulture and Electro-Man had more or less finished their battle.
Against two individuals of immense power, the Lizard Soldiers were hardly a challenge.
When Peter and his companions arrived, they saw Paper Vulture tossing three or four Lizard Soldiers onto the ground before dropping a bomb from the air, preparing to execute them.
Peter and Gwen remained indifferent.
These Lizard Soldiers had killed countless people—meeting their end now was nothing but deserved retribution.
But suddenly, Doctor Lizard sprang into action, kicking the bomb away and shielding the Lizard Soldiers from the blast.
Paper Vulture hesitated for a moment before swooping down at Doctor Lizard, assuming that he had escaped from Peter's grasp.
Fortunately, Peter stepped in just in time, positioning himself between them to prevent an unnecessary fight.
"Why did you do that, Doctor Lizard?" Peter's gaze turned cold, and the way he addressed him carried a clear sense of distance.
Doctor Lizard was unfazed. After a brief moment of hesitation, he said, "I want to save them."
"Give me a reason," Peter demanded.
Gwen and Paper Vulture remained watchful, their eyes locked onto Doctor Lizard.
Behind them, Electro-Man, having just finished his own battle, arrived and silently observed the situation as well.
If Doctor Lizard failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, he might be torn to shreds in an instant.
Doctor Lizard pleaded, "They became like this because of me. I am the one truly responsible for everything that has happened. I want to take their punishment upon myself. But before that, I beg you to allow me to do one thing."
Peter stared at him in silence.
Doctor Lizard continued, "I want to create a serum that can reverse their mutation and restore them to their original form. After that, I will—"
"You want to die?" Peter interrupted.
Doctor Lizard nodded. "The sins I've committed are beyond redemption. I can think of no other way to atone but death."
"No, there is another way," Peter shook his head slightly. "You can use your scientific knowledge to change this world—one that is spiraling into darkness. This world needs light!"
"But I'm just a monster—a lizard."
"Light is hope, an ideal. It has no fixed form, no fixed race!" Peter pulled out his family's heirloom pot, forcibly pried open Doctor Lizard's mouth, and poured a bowlful of chicken soup down his throat. "What this world needs is a living Dr. Connors, not a dead Doctor Lizard!"
Doctor Lizard hesitated for a moment, then accepted Peter's proposal.
Though he had been forced into working for the slaughter of Spider-Men, the reality remained—countless people had died because of the Lizard Soldiers he had created.
He longed for redemption—that had been his plan all along.
But as Peter said, this world had already become a festering swamp, its darkness far beyond what lay before their eyes.
If he died, it would be an easy
.ay out.
But living—perhaps that was the true path to redemption.
