Chapter 166: Spider-Man 2099 (Part-2)

No, but your face is full of stories.

Peter originally wanted to respond like this, but considering the other party probably wouldn't understand the reference, he decided to give up.

That kind of situation would be like winking at a blind person—only making himself feel awkward.

Looking at the burly guy on the screen, Peter couldn't help but feel a little emotional.

In fact, he had long known about this Spider-Man's existence.

The information mainly came from two sources.

The first was a little knowledge he had gained from works he had seen before crossing over. Because Spider-Man 2099's outfit was quite stylish, and his style of action leaned toward cold and decisive, he enjoyed considerable popularity among many Spider-Men.

If asked about other Spider-Men, Peter might need a while to think or might not know them at all. But for a relatively famous one like Spider-Man 2099, he knew at least some general background.

The second source was after crossing over.

Among the many Spider-Men he had come into contact with, a few had once told him something: around the time Peter first traveled to their worlds (later they informed him afterward), a guy calling himself Spider-Man 2099 had also contacted them, inviting them to join an organization called the "Spider Society."

Let's talk about this person first.

Spider-Man 2099, as the name suggests, comes from a future universe set in the year 2099.

His real name is Miguel O'Hara, a genius geneticist who was once employed by the Alchemax Corporation in 2099.

Alchemax was attempting to recreate the superheroes of the past, so they assigned Miguel O'Hara to research experiments that would encode spider genes into human DNA.

However, Alchemax conducted human trials with incomplete versions of the serum without permission, turning the subjects into terrifying monsters.

After this incident, Miguel O'Hara broke away from Alchemax.

Naturally, Alchemax's higher-ups didn't want to let this genius scientist go. To control him, they forced him to consume a hallucinogenic drug called "Rapture." This drug could bind with the victim's DNA, making them highly addicted—more potent than DP.

Alchemax was the sole manufacturer of this drug.

In order to free himself from Rapture's control, Miguel O'Hara took a desperate gamble by using the incomplete serum on himself.

Fortunately, his DNA successfully merged with spider genes, granting him various abilities and completely freeing him from Rapture's control.

Unfortunately, his mutation seemed to be more "excessive" than that of the average Spider-Man.

First were the positive mutations: super strength, super speed, super agility, super stamina—similar to those of an ordinary Spider-Man.

But in addition to these positive mutations, he gained a few extras.

For example, on top of his super speed, he had a doppelgänger-like ability—[Accelerated Decoy: By moving at high speed, he could leave behind a phantom duplicate, similar to the Afterimage Technique in Dragon Ball.]

He also possessed a kind of telepathic ability that allowed him to communicate with others on a mental level—seemingly a further mutation of the Spider-Sense.

Additionally, he had elongated canine teeth and retractable claws.

His canine teeth could secrete a non-toxic venom with paralyzing effects, while his fingertips and toes could extend claws at will—useful for digging, climbing, and even attacking!

That's right, he doesn't have bio-electricity, and as for wall-crawling, he relies entirely on those claws.

Besides that, his healing ability, endurance, and even lifespan are all superior to those of a normal Spider-Man.

This is an enhanced version of Spider-Man!

Oh, and by the way, he can also produce webbing organically.

On both of his forearms, he has a set of newly developed organs specifically for web-shooting.

In fact, this is also a sign of mutation.

Simply put, while he is stronger than the average Spider-Man, he also appears more monstrous, making it harder for him to integrate into normal human life.

His fangs cannot retract, so if he talks to people without his mask, his sharp teeth are fully exposed, severely damaging his personal image. Because of this, he becomes silent when unmasked, whereas wearing the mask actually makes him feel more at ease.

However, Peter isn't quite sure which version of "Spider-Man 2099" the one before him actually is.

The only thing he is certain of is that this "Spider-Man 2099" appears far more muscular and imposing than the one he had seen in the introduction works before his journey through the multiverse.

He doesn't know whether this is due to the difference between "reality" and "fiction," or if this simply isn't the same Spider-Man 2099 he knew.

But one thing he does find interesting is the so-called "Spider Society."

From what the other Spider-Men have said, it seems that this Spider Society is an organization that unites Spider-Men from across the multiverse.

While Peter was sizing up Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man 2099 was also carefully observing Peter.

His feelings were quite complicated at the moment.

In reality, he had been tracking Peter for a long time.

More than half a year ago, when Peter first appeared in Gwen's Earth-65 universe, Spider-Man 2099 had already noticed his presence.

At the time, he had gone there to invite Gwen to join the Spider Society, but unexpectedly, someone else had beaten him to it.

It was then that he discovered Peter's existence and suspected that Peter also possessed some kind of ability to traverse the multiverse—or at the very least, technology similar to his own.

However, he hadn't paid too much attention to it back then.

The multiverse is vast, and there are countless things beyond his understanding.

Besides, at that time, he had just experienced the destruction of an entire universe. His mind was in turmoil, and his only focus was on establishing the Spider Society to ensure such a catastrophe would never happen again.

Thus, Peter's existence was temporarily forgotten.

After that, he continued traveling to different universes, gradually expanding the Spider Society.

But over time, in certain universes, he began to notice some unusual signs.

Once again, he found traces of Peter!

And traces of other beings from different worlds!

This both shocked and enraged Spider-Man 2099!

Why did he create the Spider Society?

It was to protect the peace of the multiverse!

After resolving a series of events in his own universe, Earth-928, Spider-Man 2099 and his AI assistant, Lyla, conducted extensive research on the multiverse. Eventually, they designed a device—a Holo-Travel Watch—that allowed the wearer to travel from one universe to another.

This watch ensured that when the wearer entered a different universe, they wouldn't suffer quantum collapse due to differences

in their fundamental quantum structure, preventing their molecular balance from being disrupted.

Once he obtained the watch, he began traveling across different universes, testing its capabilities.
