Next day
The afternoon was quiet, but the air buzzed with anticipation as the carriage from Lady Grace's estate approached the mansion. Aiden stood by the window, watching with interest as the horses drew closer. He was excited to meet Grace's children, eager to make new friends and expand his knowledge. The idea of meeting people his own age, especially those who shared his noble status, intrigued him.
Lady Grace and her children arrived promptly, and Aiden rushed to greet them, his usual composed demeanor softened by curiosity. Grace stepped down from the carriage first, her long, pure blonde hair catching the sunlight as she adjusted her elegant dress. Behind her were her children—her son, a tall boy with black hair and a serious expression, and her daughter, a young girl with striking silver hair, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Aiden!" Lady Grace greeted him warmly, her voice smooth like silk. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting long. I thought it would be good for our children to meet in advance, before the academy training begins."
Aiden smiled and bowed his head politely. "No, Lady Grace. It is an honor to meet you and your children."
Lady Grace's son, a quiet and reserved boy, nodded in acknowledgment. "It's good to meet you, Aiden," he said, his voice calm, though there was a slight edge to it, as if he was sizing Aiden up.
Her daughter, on the other hand, seemed to bounce with energy, her silver hair swishing as she stepped forward. "It's nice to meet you, Aiden! I'm Elara," she said, offering a bright smile that made her eyes twinkle with mischief.
"Elara," Aiden repeated, taking her hand with a small smile. "It's a pleasure."
Grace smiled as she observed the interaction between the children. "I thought it would be good to start with some lighter lessons today, and then we can dive deeper into more specific topics soon. The world is vast, and there is much to learn. But first, Aiden, I want to speak to you about the academies."
Aiden nodded attentively, eager to learn more. "I'm interested in knowing more about them."
Grace motioned toward the large door, and they all began walking down the hallway, their footsteps soft against the polished floors. The mansion, with its high ceilings and elegant corridors, felt even more grand as they made their way toward the study room—a place Aiden had come to associate with new lessons and discoveries.
As they walked, the conversation continued in a casual, yet thoughtful manner.
"These halls are magnificent," Lady Grace remarked, her voice full of admiration as they passed intricate paintings and sculptures. "Your family's mansion is truly a marvel, Aiden. You must be very proud to call this place home."
Aiden gave a small smile. "I am, Lady Grace. It is quiet, though, and I often spend my time in study or with my family."
Elara bounced alongside him, her silver hair shining in the light. "Do you have a lot of books? I love reading! My mother says books are one of the best ways to learn new things. I can't wait to visit your library!"
Aiden chuckled softly, amused by her enthusiasm. "We do have a large library, Elara. I think you'll like it."
As they reached the study room, Grace gestured for everyone to sit at the large, polished table. The room was filled with shelves of books, maps of different kingdoms, and various artifacts that spoke of the world beyond the mansion's walls. A large window opened to a view of the vast estate, its greenery stretching out in every direction. It was the perfect setting for a quiet conversation.
Grace smiled at Aiden, settling into her chair with a graceful movement. "Now, Aiden, I'd like to speak to you about the academies," she began. "There are four main academies in our kingdom, each connected to one of its great regions. These academies specialize in different forms of magic, combat, and knowledge. As you grow, you will have to decide which path you wish to pursue. But first, let me explain a bit about each."
Aiden listened attentively, his heart racing with excitement as he imagined the possibilities of his future.
"First," Grace began, "there is the Warwind Academy, located in the capital of Celestia. It is the premier academy for combat and military strategy, where the most talented warriors of the kingdom are trained. It's a place where leadership and battle prowess are honed, and many of our kingdom's finest generals have come from here."
Aiden nodded, intrigued by the idea of martial skill. He had seen his mother's prowess in combat and wondered what it would be like to train at such a place.
"Then," Grace continued, "there is the Aurora Academy, also in Celestia. This academy specializes in magic, particularly light and healing magic. Many of the kingdom's most powerful mages have passed through its doors. It is known for its advanced research into the magical arts and is deeply respected for its contribution to the kingdom's overall well-being."
Aiden's eyes brightened. Healing magic was a path he had begun to explore with his own abilities. It seemed like a place that would nurture that side of him.
"The third is the Obsidian Academy, located near the border of the kingdom. It focuses on dark magic, stealth, and strategic espionage. It is ideal for those who wish to delve into the more secretive aspects of magic and combat."
Aiden raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the mention of dark magic. He had heard whispers about it, but the concept of an academy dedicated to it was new to him.
"And lastly," Grace said, her tone becoming more serious, "is the Celestia Academy of Leadership. This one is unique in that it trains not just warriors and mages, but those who will eventually lead. Whether it's governing, diplomacy, or managing the kingdom's vast resources, this academy shapes the leaders of tomorrow."
Aiden absorbed the information, his mind racing. "I think... I'd like to visit all of them, especially Warwind Academy " he said thoughtfully. "It sounds like a place where I can grow stronger."
Grace smiled, pleased with his eagerness. "You will have your chance, Aiden. But remember, each academy has its own unique focus. It's important to choose the one that aligns with your path and goals."
