Alexia is in coma

I was scared. I kept praying to God to make her wake up. I wanted to see Alexia wake up and talk to me like she always does when we were at home. Every single second felt like an hour to me. The clock kept ticking yet Alexia is not even moving her finger or something. She is just there like she is in a very deep and long sleep.

A nurse saw my sitting next to Alexia's bed and told me that I could go to home if my house was nearby or an hotel. I shook my head and told the nurse not to worry that I would stay in my wife's ward and wait for my wife to wake up. The nurse did not say anything again and left the ward after checking Alexia's condition. I looked at Alexia and she looked like same: cute and beautiful but she was also very pale.

After a while, I checked the time and it was very late at night. The doctor in charge of taking care of my wife came in and was surprised to see me.

"You know Mr Alex I did not know that I would still meet you here" The doctor said.

"How could I not be here when my wife is still lying down and not waking up" I replied still looking at my beautiful wife.

"Well it is rare to see a man not going to bed but actually staying awake because of his wife".

"Then I could be the first one to do that" I said to him.

"Then should I arrange a bed in the hospital ward for you to sleep" The doctor told me.

"If it is not too much of a bother, then can I please ask you to bring the bed inside my wife's ward because I want to be by her side when she wakes up"

"No problem, I would tell some of the nurses to do just that". The doctor left the ward and after some time, I saw some nurses bringing a bed. They placed the bed beside my wife's bed. I was glad because I could see my wife's face when she wakes up the next day. I had complete faith in my wife.

The next day, I woke up early. I quickly checked my wife but she was still asleep. I was disappointed cause I thought she would have woken up by now. I decided to leave the hospital and go to the hotel I had already booked a room in. I went to the hotel and I saw the receptionist. I greeted her and I went to the room I had already booked. When I got to the room, I had my bath and I put on some pair of clothes that I had bought the day before. Then I checked myself in the mirror and found out that I looked presentable. Then I left the hotel and went to a restaurant to have a simple breakfast. When I was through with breakfast, I paid the bills and went back to the hospital.

When I got to the hospital, I met the doctor in charge, he told me that that day was the last day for observing my wife's condition and if she does not wake up that day she was going to be considered brain dead and she would be in a comatose condition. I was worried. I followed the doctor to my wife's ward and the doctor checked her for some while. Then he told me that my wife was in a perfect condition but he does not know why she has not woken up yet.

We decided to wait for the whole day. As I sat down beside my wife's bed, my phone rang. It was the Ceo. I quickly picked the call. Then we talked.

"Alex, I called you to ask about the investigation since you did not come to the company to inform me about your results" the Ceo said while sighing.

I understood how my Ceo felt. The investigation was important but I did not have the time to do a stupid investigation because my wife is lying down here in a hospital and the doctor may declare her brain dead.

"Sir, please you would have to give me some time because my friend just died and the cops said that it was murder not suicide so I hope you would understand". I did not know why but I did not want to tell the boss about my wife's condition. He told me that he would give me some time. He also offered his condolences.

He hung up the call and I looked after my wife till the doctor came into her ward to check up on her again. She still haven't woken up yet. Then it was middle of the night, she still haven't woken up yet. Then the doctor confirmed her a brain dead patient. I was sad and scared. My wife was in a comatose condition. She was in coma.
