Memories shape who we are—they define us, anchoring us to our pasts. They are like videos, playing endlessly in our minds.

But everything changed one day when people began to relive their memories. However, it wasn’t the pleasant ones that resurfaced. Instead, they were forced to experience their worst moments—or even memories that weren’t their own.

Those who managed to survive this haunting experience found themselves watched by strange creatures, and in turn, were granted their powers.

As if the world weren’t already thrown into chaos, these same bizarre monsters began to manifest on Earth, threatening humanity with the very real prospect of extinction.

Amidst this upheaval, a small, seemingly insignificant beast was born. But it quickly rose to power, only to be betrayed and killed in a cruel twist of fate. Or so it seemed—because somehow, the beast found itself reborn in the body of a human.

What did pay mean? What was the payment for someone's life? Did it vary with the person who was revived? My first thought was another soul, but would Dusk really take the life of another to get me back? We weren't that close, so I doubt he would go that far.

So, if it wasn't a soul, what else could it be? Money, was it a special item? It made sense, maybe it was an item he got from killing that giant.

But am I sure he even succeeded in defeating that beast after my sacrifice? As much as I'm confident in his ability, there is no way for me to be sure.

So if it wasn't a soul, and probably not an item, what could it be?

As endless possibilities came to mind, from the corner of my eyes, I noticed something in the abyss that normally shouldn't exist.

I turned my head rapidly and faced the glowing eyes, their orange color reminding me of a great fire. Who did they belong to? Were they part of my imagination, or really did exist?
