A few hours earlier, Lilia as usual received a request from Glaen through a letter brought by her subordinate, the letter that was brought contained, "Meet me at Hunter's headquarters today, as well as bringing the potion."
'That potion' Lilia's mind immediately went to the potion that Glaen had requested a few weeks ago. From his request, this potion could change one's appearance, so it was perfect for disguising oneself and entering the vampires' base.
Lilia immediately entered her laboratory and took the potion ordered by Glaen. She immediately put the potion in her bag and left for the Hunter's Headquarters.
Not long after, Lilia arrived at Hunter's headquarters. She strode steadily towards Glaen's room, but stopped when she saw Seraphina standing at the door.
"Seraphina, is Glaen inside? He asked me to bring this potion," Lilia said, showing the potion bottle in her bag. Seraphina nodded, but her face was serious. "The Commander is inside, Miss Lilia, but it looks like you'll have to wait a bit. He's meeting a special guest today."
Lilia bit her lower lip, hesitating. She glanced at the potion bottle in her bag, then back at Seraphina.
"I don't think this is a good idea, Seraphina. Posing as a vampire gang is too risky. You could be killed instantly if you are discovered," Lilia said, full of worry. She lightly stroked the potion bottle in her bag, as if to reassure herself that everything would be fine.
Seraphina smiled slightly, "It looks like the mission will be postponed, Miss Lilia. The commander just prepared a better plan than infiltrating the vampires' territory." She raised her eyebrows, as if waiting for Lilia's reaction.
Lilia looked puzzled. "What does that mean?" She frowned, trying to understand Seraphina's meaning.
"How about you see for yourself? Just peeking is fine, right?" Seraphina pointed at the door to Glaen's room with her chin, holding back a smile.
Lilia tried to open the door of Glaen's room slightly, at this time Kai who had almost lost his consciousness was fighting with Glaen, he also tried to go inside but Seraphina held him back.
"What are you doing here, why aren't you helping Glaen?" Lilia snapped worriedly.
"It's okay, the Commander can handle this. You just need to look at it." Lilia snapped. Her face reddened, her hands clenched into tight fists. She tried to break free from Seraphina's grip, but Seraphina held her firmly.
"It's okay, the Commander can handle this. You just need to look at it," Seraphina said, her voice calm yet firm. She looked at Lilia with a meaningful gaze, as if she wanted to convey something more than just words.
"But..." Lilia was still worried, she wanted to see Glaen but couldn't, because Seraphina would definitely hold her back. According to Seraphina's direction, she only watched from behind the door of the room, but if there was something dangerous, she would inevitably have to enter Glaen's room at that time.
"Alright, first we need to disguise these eyes and fangs of yours." Glaen smiled slightly, "I knew you were coming Lilia." He said in a loud voice.
The fight was finally over, Lilia still didn't understand what she was seeing at the moment. When she finished speaking she was a little surprised that Glaen already knew that she had come.
"I expected something to happen when you asked to make this, but I didn't expect you to invite a Hybrid vampire to join as a Hunter." Lilia said, her voice sounding a little surprised, but still calm. She glanced briefly at Kai, her eyes showing a hint of misgivings.
Glaen chuckled softly, moving his cigar between his fingers. "You're too naive, Lilia. The world is much more complicated than you imagine. Sometimes, we need to work with the enemy to defeat a greater foe." She looked at Kai with a meaningful gaze, as if assessing how much potential the Hybrid vampire possessed. "Besides, he has abilities that are very useful to us."
Lilia sighed, then reached into the bag she was carrying and took out the potion requested by Glaen. "I've brought your request Glaen," she handed the bottle to Glaen and he accepted it.
Glaen accepted the bottle with one hand, his fingers gently touching the glass surface of the bottle. He studied the bottle for a moment, the dim light reflecting in his sharp eyes. A faint smile appeared on his lips. "Very good, Lilia. I believe you can make this," he said, his voice sounding complimentary yet mysterious. She twirled the potion bottle between her fingers, then handed it to Kai, "Here, put drops in your eyes and gargle with your mouth, and your eyes will change and your fangs will shrink into the gums of your teeth."
Lilia immediately exclaimed, "Wait! You want to give that potion to this child? Just so you know, it's a disguise potion, not a total transformation! I'm not sure it'll work on that kid!" She stepped forward, trying to take back the potion bottle, but Glaen dodged quickly. He raised his hand, restraining Lilia from coming any closer.
Glaen grinned, "There's no harm in trying, is there? The point is to change your appearance." She shrugged, showing a nonchalant attitude. He looked at Kai with a calculating gaze.
Lilia gritted her teeth, "Hah, whatever you want. Just don't protest anything after this!" She let out a long sigh, showing her frustration. She wiped her face with the palm of her hand, showing her exhaustion in dealing with the stubborn Glaen. She shook her head, giving up on interfering with Glaen's plans.
Glaen ignored Lilia's protests. With a sly smile, he again held out the potion bottle to Kai.
Kai accepted the potion, he frowned, his eyes still filled with doubt. He looked at the potion bottle suspiciously, then glanced at Glaen. As if he could read Kai's mind, Glaen sighed then took back the potion in Kai's hand.
"Look at this," Glaen opened the potion bottle, then dripped a few drops into his own eyes. He moved his hand, dripped the liquid into his mouth, and rinsed his mouth quickly. Instantly, his eyes turned fiery red, and between his white teeth appeared sharp false fangs, similar to real vampire fangs.
Kai was dumbfounded, his eyes rounded in disbelief. He stared at Glaen with a look full of awe and a hint of fear. "How...?" he stammered, amazed at the change that had occurred so quickly.
"It's only a temporary effect," Glaen said, smiling with satisfaction. "The potion will wear off after a few hours. Now, you're ready to join them." He held out the potion bottle to Kai, offering it with a confident gaze.
Kai followed Glaen's instructions carefully, dripping the potion into his eyes and gargling with the liquid. A piercing cold sensation immediately hit him, different from anything he had ever felt before. He waited, watching the changes in his body with suspense.
However, not everything went as expected. Her fangs did shrink, disappearing behind her gums, but the change was not complete. The color of her eyes changed, yes, to a yellowish red, but the color was not uniform. There were patches of dark red still visible among the new yellowish-red color.
"Did it work? I feel my fangs shrinking," Kai said, moving his tongue to confirm. Hope and a little fear were in his eyes. He hoped the potion would successfully hide his eyes and fangs.
Glaen watched Kai with a sharp gaze. "Your fangs did the trick, but your eyes... aren't perfect. Despite the rare red eye color in humans, the vampire markings in your eyes are still slightly visible. Not entirely successful." Glaen held her chin, "It is unusual for you to fail in Alchemy, Lilia."
Lilia let out a long breath, "That's because you asked me to make that potion to infiltrate vampire territory! A disguise potion, not a species-changing potion. Are you expecting an instant miracle? If it doesn't work, take a look at yourself, Glaen. You look more like a vampire than Kai ever did! Look at those fiery red eyes of yours! You're too much!" Lilia pointed at Glaen's eyes with her index finger, then shook her head with an annoyed expression.
Glaen only responded with a faint smile, showing her high confidence. She ignored Lilia's protests completely, as if Lilia's words meant nothing to her. Her gaze returned to Kai, showing her complete focus on the plan she had set. "Yeah, I don't think it's bad," he said, his voice sounding calm and confident. "Humans rarely have red eyes, but that doesn't mean no one does, right?" She said firmly and confidently.
"So, what do I need to do to join Hunter?" Kai asked, changing the subject.
Glaen replied casually, "Oh, for that, you have to go to school first."
Kai frowned, "What?" He didn't understand what Glaen meant. School? What did school have to do with joining Hunter? He felt something was wrong.
Glaen smiled, his gaze seemed meaningful. "Yes, school. You have to learn a lot of things before you can join Hunter. They don't just accept new members. You have to be knowledgeable, skilled, and strategic. You must be able to analyze situations, plan strategies, and make decisions quickly and accurately. All of that doesn't come easily. You have to study, practice, and hone your skills. Especially since you don't have the basic skills of fighting." Glaen said, his voice sounding flat but with a hint of sarcasm. He observed Kai from top to bottom, assessing his fighting skills which were still very minimal, this was seen from the previous fight.
