CHAPTER 5: THE INVINCIBLE DUOS

The next day, Greg woke up feeling refreshed. After a light warm-up, he searched for his sister. Once they had breakfast together, he forced her into playing the game, only logging in after confirming her login. He was desperate and in a rush to ensure she played—Kyle was the reason. He was certain Kyle wouldn't take his rudeness lightly and would retaliate soon.

Then why hadn't he played along? Unlike protagonists in books who bowed their heads and bided their time, Greg was more direct. Hiding his true feelings was a daunting task, and he knew he would slip up sooner or later. As for the gaming helmet? No way he was accepting it. From his past life—during his final confrontation with Kyle—he had realized that the helmets Kyle provided were tampered with, allowing surveillance of the player's game avatar, talents, and progress. There was no way he would live a monitored life.

Logging into the game, he calmly made his way toward the starting point to wait for his sister. How could a small village accommodate so many players? Well, it didn't. Apocalypse had multiple startup villages, with each player's starting location determined by their geographical position at the time of login. This ensured a 100% chance that his sister would appear in the same village as him.

Upon reaching the village, he didn't need to search long before spotting her. She stood patiently at their agreed meeting point.

"Brother, wow! This game looks amazing! Guess it's not as bad as I thought. And oh, your genius sister is really talented. Guess what talent I awakened!" Annabelle said with a proud smile.

"Just show me, will you? We have a lot to do, sis," Greg said, not wanting to waste time. A crazy plan was already brewing in his head.

"Tsk, no fun," Annabelle pouted before granting Greg permission to view her status.

"Wow," was the only thought Greg had. The talent was overpowered. With this, it was only a matter of time before she created a dynasty of uncontrollable wealth.

But really, both siblings awakening an Ex-rank talent? That was eyebrow-raising, but Greg refused to dwell on it. Growing stronger was his priority.

Without hesitation, he activated Talent Share to link his talent with Annabelle. After teasing him a bit, she accepted the request. Greg quickly checked his status.

Greg was incredibly joyous when he saw that his sister could share his talent. Although the Death talent had limitations—only allowing the third ability to be shared—it was more than enough. With this, he was assured that no harm could come to her. His last weakness in this world was eliminated.

Now, he could truly spread his wings and fly.

Friends? He had none after his parents' deaths. Most had abandoned him when he took up menial jobs. Kyle had been his only real friend—until Greg discovered the truth.

His sister? She was introverted and preferred staying home, so the chances of her forming strong friendships were slim.

Nemesis and Scarlett—the undefeatable duo, the magician and swordsman siblings. That had a nice ring to it.

"Alright, sis, it's time we head out for an awesome adventure. You'll level up along the way," Greg said, patting Annabelle's shoulder.

"And where exactly are we going, dear brother?" Annabelle asked curiously.

"Nothing out of the norm. Just paying a visit to the Primordial Dragon, bringing him under us, leeching off his talent, plundering his unlimited treasury, gaining complete domination over all dragons, and breaking the system. After all, I've set my eyes on one of the ten strongest beings in Apocalypse," Greg said, pleased with himself.

Annabelle stared at him in shock. That was a simple adventure? He was literally trying to break the game!

Shaking her head, she followed her brother. Deep down, she couldn't deny the thrill of going on such an adventure.
