Liam
The voice caused something to spark within me.
I despised how quickly I recognized the voice, and most of all I hated Emma's reaction to his voice.
Emma. Her name echoed in my head while I turned back to stare at her. Her name was just as beautiful as she ever looked and at that moment she was hard to resist, so hard I immediately forgot about the male on the other side of the door as I leaned into the side of her neck once more letting my teeth have the soft flesh between them sending her screaming in pain and squeezing her hands tight.
"Emma? Is everything okay? Are you in there?"
I released the soft skin and left little kisses on the mark I just created, ignoring her struggle for me to let go of her. A mistake I made a year ago. I dare not make such a mistake ever again. Letting her go that day kept me in a year of bondage and regret, she was stuck in my mind, I never thought I would ever find her again but she was in my arms, I could feel her everybody and she was asking me to let her go? Never.
"If you don't answer, I'm breaking in" the bastard threatened from the other side but I smirked studying Emma's anxious look. That would be good, that way he would know she is taken by me.
"Give me a minute, I slipped and I'm naked, just wait there for me"
I didn't fail to notice how she struggled with her every word as she finally responded to the male before she turned to me.
"Can you please listen to me, we can't be discovered, not now, not like this" She whispered, voice strained as she begged me with her eyes. I wanted to push on, to continue teasing her but she let out the word.
"Please,"
Melted my heart and caused me to let her go. I never knew that word had an effect on me until she used it. She struck a core with her soft voice and I fear if she ever begged me to bring the world to her feet, I wouldn't hesitate.
She opened the door slightly, enough to shield me from being seen and enough for her to step out.
"What the hell have you been doing in there?"
The bastard should return to school, he certainly has zero knowledge of how to speak with a woman. But of course, Emma doesn't notice that, her response is filled with guilt laced in her tone and I almost punch the wall at her naivety.
"I'm sorry, I had a running stomach"
"Running stomach huh? And you have a man's clothes lying around your house, you think I wouldn't notice that?"
His voice was so aggressive like he had the right to speak with her like that. A man like that shouldn't have ever set his eyes on Emma, much less had any sort of intimacy with her.
But then, it was all my fault. If I had not advised her to follow her boyfriend's advice that day, this asshole wouldn't be speaking to her that way.
"Why are you here?" Emma questioned with an exasperated tone.
I backed myself against the wall, crossing my arms as I listened to their discussion.
"Avoiding my question huh?" He chuckled and I could sense his disappointment that he tried to mask. At least Emma didn't try to explain herself to him.
"Fine. I came to drop your clothes off; they are causing a nuisance in my room. Since I'm done I'll leave you with the coward of a man that cannot face me" His voice had increased, probably trying to provoke me to get out.
If not for Emma, I would be out by now, and I would have had two or three of his fingers chopped off by now.
"Learn to lock your door, or else your father might barge in anytime soon"
That was the last string left for me and he had cut it by saying that. I reached for the door handle to exit the bathroom and give the bastard a morning punch but he was out before I could step out.
"Don't say anything, don't do anything"
A soft voice erupted from the figure who stood before me with her back against me. Shoulders slumped and tone laced with devastation.
"I won't" Despite the countless thoughts of how to end that bastard life I agreed. I couldn't dare to stir up her trauma.
"But let me take you to work" I demanded, almost pleading.
Fortunately, she nodded without argument and I went back to getting ready for work.
The drive to the company building was silent as Emma fixed her gaze on the view outside the car window, and I remained silent, afraid to say anything that might hurt her feelings. I knew it wasn't the moment to tease her. I didn't need words to understand that.
But the illiterate that brought it up surely didn't know that. Like a coward, he used anything that could hurt Emma including her trauma. I swear, that bastard would eventually pay, all I need is a go-ahead from Emma and I would relish on his suffering as I torture him.
"Do you want anything?" I asked immediately I turned off the car engine after parking in my profound spot where my car couldn't easily be seen.
And finally, she shifted her gaze away from the window and turned to me. Her gaze lingered on mine before she parted her lips to speak.
"You know about what my father did to me don't you?"
I surely couldn't tell her the truth. I didn't know if the memory of me that day would trigger something besides it was what happened that day that made her run away.
But I nodded softly, expecting the next question.
"How?"
"Your ex said it that day at the hotel" Lies. I knew before then what happened between her and her father.
She muttered an "oh" and nodded before getting out of the car without another word. I wasn't satisfied, I needed to know how she was feeling. Her quietness had placed me on edge. However, before I could ask a question, a familiar voice called out our name from behind.
"Mr. Liam and Miss. Taylor"
Mr. Don's voice caused us to turn back with dread, I wasn't scared of him. But his sudden appearance behind us was creepy, however, Emma did look scared, of which, the reason could be more than just his creepy appearance.
"You came together," He remarked, staring at both of us as he walked closer to us.
I sighed while Emma let out a nervous laugh, scratching the side of her neck--that definitely gave away her emotions to Mr. Don.
Mr. Don was a smart man, regardless of his age, and he had always been fast to catch on, it wouldn't be a shocker if he were the first to know about Emma and I.
"You should stop scratching Miss Taylor, you already have a mark there" Mr. Don mentioned and I had to hold back a prideful smile while Emma panicked more.
"It seems you have a humongous mosquito in your apartment, you should chase it away before it becomes obsessed with your blood" Mr. Don stated softly, however, his eyes were on me. He had that look on his face. The look that gave away the fact that he was aware.
"Mr. Liam, I would love to speak with you. Now,"
