Chapter 6: Aftermath

"Hana!"

.

Her eyes were filled with concern.

.

"Eomma, let's talk somewhere away from here, there are too many people."

.

My mom obliged and I brought her to the library.

.

...

...

...

.

"Ha-na, are you okay?"

.

"I'm fine, I have some precautions, but fortunately the press arrived, so they wouldn't do anything to me."

.

My mom always thinks about me first.

.

I...

.

"What actually happened Ha-na?"

.

I gave her a summarized and toned down summary of my experience. I don't want to worry her more than I already did.

.

"It actually wasn't a big deal eomma, I just happened to be there. Oh, maybe you should inform the Spring Breeze crew that I might appear at the news just so that it won't be a surprise."

.

"All right, I think we should go home though Ha-na. Today is a bit chaotic isn't it."

.

I agreed and texted Soo-hyeon that I wouldn't be going back to class.

.

'Ha-na-ya, the teachers told us to go home as well. The media is very noisy and all that.'

.

Well, maybe more reporters arrived and they couldn't contain it. Rather than risking the students wellbeing, it's better to send them home after all.

.

"Let's go home eomma."

.

...

...

...

.

Tonight, I saw my face everywhere.

.

Every news station was broadcasting about the embezzlement case that involves my school.

.

Every involved footage showed my face.

.

It should be odd that the whole thing did not focus on principal Shin instead.

.

Maybe compared to showing some old man no one knew and concerned about, it might be more interesting to focus on an up-coming actress with courage and a good head on her shoulders.

.

Well, it might be what the puppeteer behind this stage wanted as well.

.

Yes, there is someone behind this issue. The amount of interest on me is abnormal. It made sense to have some interest on me, but the amount of times I've seen my face is ridiculous. Everything also happened way too smoothly, like it's a drama plot someone wrote.

.

If I could figure it out, of course those people whose into politics could do so as well. It was obvious, but maybe there was nothing they can do about that.

.

Politician Han Seungtae might also get involved. If so, my actions could be considered heavily benefitting this puppeteer.

.

.

It gives a bad taste in my mouth, but what can I do now.

.

.

Anyhow, there is no need to involve myself in such issues. I'll pretend to be stupid and put this behind me.

.

Well, at least Han Myeong-soo, that rat, is gone. Hopefully his victims would find courage to speak up and condemn him.

.

Meanwhile, I will have to study this script.

.

...

...

...

.

Although it still would take a few months before the script reading of Spring Breeze, I want to essentially get used to acting again. It's been a while since I acted as someone with this much screentime and that is saying something about my horrendous career.

.

I flipped open the script book, looking for my parts.

.

The drama 'Spring Breeze' is a romance and family drama that tells the story of a hardworking female lead and the Mr.Perfect male lead, as well as their struggles to be together.

.

It started off light and pretty much rom-com-y, with the blooming interest between the couple. I remember the leads having an okay chemistry, which is why they are off to a good start.

.

However, the drama traded lighthearted romance with endless hurdles towards the couple. The villains and hurdles just appeared back to back, seemingly endless. The whole thing just ended up being frustrating and ridiculous at times.

.

My first appearance as the younger sister of the female lead, Jo Yeon-gyeong, occurs when the younger sister is causing problems at school. Their mother is dead, so older sister Jo Yeon-woo visited the school to deal with the younger sister problems.

.

Jo Yeon-gyeong is horrible at her studies and causes lots of fights among the girls. She is every bad word you associate with the younger generation. She's lazy, impulsive, shallow, you name it.

.

In the middle of the drama, she became an obstacle towards the couple. She is unwilling to let her sister go because she feels that she has no one else. The whole thing is executed badly and made the viewers want to smack her.

.

Later, due to public dislike towards her and her unessential role, her screentime is further reduced. They used a ridiculous plot device to send her out and she never appeared again.

.

Thus ends Yeon-gyeong's pitiful and pathetic life.

.

My goal tonight is to flesh out Jo Yeon-gyeong a little bit to humanise her, instead of letting her be this caricature of an annoying little sister.

.

I put my pen on my book and started making a mindmap.

.

Until I heard a knock.

.

"Hana! I got news for you!"

.

"The production team of 'Spring Breeze' decided for a slight change in your role, thanks to today's events!"

.

I expected there to be some script change, but it seems more extreme than I thought.

.

"Apparently your actions today have inspired writer Kim Deok-hwa to improve his story!"

.

It's good that I haven't started brainstorming then.
