Taking leadership

"Hey"

Karl looked toward the voice and immediately noticed the burly student with the hammer and his group.

"Hey"

He greeted them as he went towards them until they facing face-to-face.

Karl felt all the gaze of the survivor, as Krass

drew there attention seemingly afraid of him.

"You're the leader hear right" Karl asked the burly student, as he looked at the group and noticed the campus belle, along with two of her friends was part of the group.

The burly student hearing this smirked as he immediately proclaimed "That's right, but who are you?"

"Karl, and you?" He introduced, as Karl doesn't really bother to remember every person name in campus.

"Andrew" Andrew said.

Finished with the greetings and introduction, Karl felt it was time for his main agenda.

[Earth spike]

"ARGH!!!"

Andrew pained voice resounding at the gymnasium, an earth spike appeared beneath piercing his feet as he crouched down upon feeling the pain.

"Starting today, I'll be in charge of this place"

Karl said loud enough for the others to hear, and made the earth spike disappear.

"You won't have any problem with this right" Karl asked with a playful smirked across his face.

"N-No" Andrew said with a pained expression, his group nodding aggressively as well clearly now afraid of Karl.

"Good. We're all your food"

He asked as the group pointed it toward the place where they huddled up previously. Karl walk and healed Andrew's foot, as he walk toward there as he will managed.

Andrew feeling his foot more bearable walked to corner in gymnasium.

Karl decided to rest, Feeling tired in his journey.

Karl didn't expect that the system will give a class to people who have reached level 10 but he already had a class, the system instead let him chose 2 class specific skills.

He thought which skills to pick, as he read the skill and assess whether to pick it or not.

'[Rejuvenation totem] is obviously a no a brainer' Karl thought.

'[Dread totem] is a no since causing fear is pointless, so It will be [Earbound totem] or [Death totem]' as he thought how he will need them.

"What if the undead aren't mine" Karl thought and read the skill again to be sure, seeing that there is no assurance that the creatures will be his immediately went to pick [Rejuvenation totem] and [Earthbound totem], and used all his stat points.

Satisfied with his stat, Karl used [Rejuvenation totem] as a 3 meter tall totem with a dear carving on it appeared in the middle of gymnasium, as the people felt a refresh being near it.

"Did you do that?" Karl heard a voice and saw the teacher who previously talked to him.

"Yea"

Hearing this, immediately know Karl is a man with few words.

"I'm Christian by the way" Christian introduced himself and decided to sit down.

Karl went to sleep and instructed Krass to guard him as he is warry to the survivor especially Andrew group.

(1 day later)

Karl woked up from his sleep feeling fresh as he noticed the totem was still there and immediately concluded 'Just like [earth spike] the totem doesn't disappear either, maybe other skill as will'

He stood up and went to the restroom to wash up, Karl looked at his reflection in the mirror that and notice that his face became more sharp he backed up and looked at his body that he have grown to 1.8 meter tall and now have defined muscle, as he admired his body a bit and went to woked the other to announce something.

With this in mind, he stepped forward and said aloud, " Everyone wake up"

The survivors woken from the loud voice look at Karl.

"I know many of you are afraid of being eated by those zombies as most of you here have probably seen the horror. However, you don't need to be so scared! Those zombies are even slower than a normal person like you, so imagine how slow they are for people like me and everyone else who have leveled up by killing them and leveling up!"

The eyes of several people had a strange glint in them upon hearing this. Indeed, zombies were slow and if one was careful, even a normal person could kill a zombie. However, it was not easy to overcome the fear, let alone knowing that zombies were not the only danger.

But Karl's next words changed things: "I will personally hunt zombies, cut off their legs and arms, even crush their jaws! You just need to have the courage to pick up a weapon and finish them off to gain experience and level up!"

People began to murmur and stare at each other as they argued amongst themselves. Clearly, there were many tempted by the offer. After all, without their hands, legs, and without their teeth; the zombies were nothing to fear.

None of them were really willing to die and there were many of them who didn't want to do more embarrassing jobs for fear of fighting. However, at the end of the day, fear was one of the strongest human emotions.

While Karl's words were tempting, no one was willing to risk their lives just like that. Even if the zombies were incapacitated by him, there were still terrifying insects and other horrible beasts that could emerge from anywhere at any time. Asking them to pick up a weapon to fight after living almost twenty years or more in a peaceful society under the protection of rules, laws, and their parents. was no different than asking them to walk naked down the street in broad daylight; it might sound easy, but no one in their right mind was willing to do something like that.

However, these people forgot that sense had already disappeared and that the mentality of the past no longer applied in this new world. Unfortunately, by the time many of them realized this fact, it would be too late to regret it.
