THE MISSING PAGE

This time, Mina was the one consoling Minjae. Even though Minjae wasn't crying, she could now understand her aunt's pain.

"We're going to get through this," Mina said softly.

After a while, they pulled away from the hug.

"You should get some sleep now," Minjae said.

Mina simply nodded and turned to leave, but before she could step out, Minjae spoke again.

"I heard you haven't been going to school."

"I…"

"It's okay," Minjae interrupted gently. "Go when you're ready."

Mina nodded again, this time with a small smile, then walked out of the room.

As soon as Mina left, the room fell into complete silence. Minjae glanced around, taking in the surroundings—almost everything was pink, Minsol's favorite color. Her eyes landed on the bedside drawer, and she instinctively reached for the handle. But before she could open it, she stopped halfway and turned to the wardrobe in the corner of the room.

Looking up at it, a memory surfaced.

[Flashback]

"Unni!" Minjae called out as she barged into Minsol's room.

Minsol, startled, immediately hid a pink book behind her back.

"What is it? Have you forgotten how to knock?" she asked, rolling her eyes. But there was no real anger in her tone—she was already used to Minjae's rascal behavior.

"Sorry," Minjae said sarcastically, already walking deeper into the room. "May I come in?" she added, despite already making her way toward Minsol's wardrobe.

"What are you doing?" Minsol asked, watching her closely.

"Looking for something."

"Something like…?"

"Like a dress."

Minsol scoffed. "Don't you have more than enough of those?"

"Nope, I don't." Minjae continued rummaging through the clothes.

"Well, you can buy," Minsol suggested.

"Yeah, about that… I'd like to use your card."

Minsol narrowed her eyes. "What happened to yours?"

"Daddy situation," Minjae replied mockingly.

Minsol sighed, already knowing what she meant. "He froze your card again?"

"Exactly." Minjae huffed. "He froze it just when I trashed all my old clothes to make space for new ones. So now, I'm pretty much... clothesless."

Shaking her head, Minsol stood up and walked over to another section of the wardrobe. She pulled out some new clothes and a pair of shoes.

"What about this one?" she asked, holding up a sleek black dress.

"Too boring," Minjae dismissed it. "I need something nice for clubbing."

"Clubbing?" Minsol frowned. "Minjae, you do realize tomorrow is Grandpa's funeral?"

"Yeah, that's tomorrow," Minjae replied nonchalantly.

"If the media sees you—"

"dont worry, that won't be a problem. I just need to go out." Minjae replied as Minsol gazed at her with a small frown on her face

"arent you a bit sad about grandpa's death, moreover you were the closest to him..." Minjae interrupts

"Yea, and this is me being sad" she said "i really have to go out... I feel like i might lose it if i stay around" this time her words were sincere, Minsol to tell from her expression that she was feeling truly sad, she watched her quietly for a moment before sighing. She walked over to her drawer, pulled out a black card, and handed it to Minjae.

"Buy whatever you want."

Minjae smirked as she took the card but, instead of leaving, she reached for the pink book that Minsol had hidden earlier.

"So… are you going to tell me about the book?" Minjae asked cunningly

"What book?"

"Oh, come on. I saw you hide it." Minjae smirked.

Minsol glanced at the bed where she had left the book, only to realize it was no longer there. She sighed in defeat, watching as Minjae examined the cover.

"Fine, go ahead and read it. It's no big deal."

Minjae frowned, now skeptical. "It's a plan book," Minsol added.

"For what?"

"For the Chains Organization," Minsol said with a small smile. "I was told Grandpa willed it to me, so I'm drafting plans to make it stronger."

"Oh wow," Minjae replied dryly, clearly uninterested.

"Go to page seven," Minsol continued. "You'll see the construction I—"

Before she could finish, Minjae yawned. She walked over and placed the book back in Minsol's hands.

"Do whatever you want with the company. I'm already bored."

Then, she turned and headed for the door, waving the black card in the air.

"Thanks, though," she added.

Before stepping out, she glanced back and saw Minsol place the book on top of her wardrobe.

[Back to the Present]

Minjae placed her hand on the wardrobe and slowly pulled out the pink book. Sitting down on the bed, she reached into her bag and retrieved the piece of paper she had found earlier. She compared it to the book's pages—they matched.

Her brows furrowed as she flipped to page seven, only to find it missing. The page had been torn out.

She glanced at the piece of paper in her hand and realized—it was page seven.

Her heart pounded slightly as she turned to page eight.

"This will be my first project and achievement as the next leader of the Chains Organization. I want to build a firm that not only strengthens the organization nationally but expands it internationally. Based on my research, it seems the organization is facing a threat from the Blue House. Soon, every major corporation will own a nanotech company, making the Chains tech firm obsolete. If I can establish a strong international presence, the Blue House will no longer see us as an easy target."

Minjae flipped through a few more pages at random and stopped at one that had been crossed out.

She read it anyway.

"I can't believe Father lied to me about Grandpa's will…"

Minjae exhaled sharply and shut the book.

Minsol was broken when she found out later that the will will was not for her, but she couldn't let her sister know as she was very determined carry out her plan for the organization.
