Shadows

Aurelia woke later that night, she blinked against the dim glow of the lanterns, realizing she was fully awake. Hades lay beside her, his breathing deep and steady, his arm draped lazily over her waist. She carefully slid out from under his grasp, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead before slipping out the door.

The city of Ephyrae was quiet, bathed in the silvery glow of the twin moons above. She never took note of the two moons before but appreciated the view regardless. The crystalline structures shimmered under the soft light, their surfaces catching the night breeze like rippling water.

Aurelia pulled her shawl closer around her shoulders as she wandered aimlessly through the empty streets, taking in the sheer beauty of the place.

During the day, Ephyrae was alive with movement…. the Selyphs soaring through the sky, warriors training, the hum of everyday life filling the environment. But at night, it was different. Peaceful. Almost ethereal.
