Five - The first test in the ninja academy

After tree months of training, Yuta would finally have a real competition with someone in this world. As he thought of this, a gleam of excitement flashed in his eyes.

Looking at the notice board in the hallway, his eyes scanned for the name of his classroom.

Today, every class will have their own exam, and the content is announced here. After some time, he finally found what he had been looking for.

Below the name of his classroom, there was a list of every test that would be held today.

In the first period of the morning they would first have a theoretical exam, and afterwards they would do a physical test in the form of a 100 laps run in the academy's running field.

Seeing the content of the test for the first period, Yuta couldn't help but feel surprised.

"Impossible, how could they even complete this running course? Besides the children of the clans and his fellow taoist brothers and sisters, everyone else was definitely unqualified.

Is it just judging everyone's performance? So it shouldn't completing the 100 laps shouldn't be required...

Mumbling silently, he eyes continued down the list and he found the content for the second period, after lunch, which was Shurikenjutsu and last but not least, there would be a test on survival skills, as for what this test would be, he wasn't sure.

After sorting out this information, he headed to the class while avoiding the chaotic crowd in the corridors.

To his surprise, unlike previous days where they could seat anywhere, the seats were now all named, and the distribution seemed completely random.

After some observation, he found out that his seat was arranged at the front row, by the window on the left side of the classroom.

And the one seating beside him was... Before he could see the name, a girl approached out of nowhere and sat down beside him.

Startled he looked up and discovered that it was Inuzuka Yui!

One of the people who never appeared in the series.

"What are you looking at?" The girl bared her fangs like a scared puppy.

"Nothing." Yuta smiled and stopped looking, anyway, he wasn't familiar with this girl, so it's better not to provoke her.

But to his surprise, the girl didn't seem to like it.

"Hey, what do you mean nothing? Could it be that I'm not as pretty as those two you always hang out with?"

When Yuta heard those words he suddenly had a strange feeling in his heart, looking at her from the corner or his eyes, this feeling intensified and he understood.

It was alienation. Why? Simple. Is this girl pretending to flirt with him?

The moment this thought appeared in his heart he couldn't help but think deeper about it.

Yes, that must be it.

So, in response to her, he continued to smile and asked a question in a sarcastic tone. "Strange, you seem to care a lot about this humble taoist?"

Sure enough, when those words came out, he didn't see the expected look of an infatuated girl who had a crush on someone.

No matter how much she tried to control it, her eyes still revealed a fierce look before she managed to sooth her expression.

Besides, with all his training, he had become quite good at noticing details, and he still saw how hard she was clenching her fist.

Yuta saw all of this and couldn't help wandering if she was being forced. Is this the legendary beauty trap? The clan leader tries to poach someone, and to achieve his goals he sacrifices a beauty?

His eyes became a little colder as he thought about it.

It's not that he can't accept someone approaching him with other purposes. But as a young man who grew up watching and reading all kinds of stories, he couldn't accept this concept of a girl giving herself to him like that. No, no, he's a romantic guy who is waiting for the right person!

The kind that when they look at each other, all thoughts disappear and you fall in a trance!

Moreover, he also saw that she wasn't willing.

In the end he shook his head and forgot about it. The troubles of worldly affairs are beyond him. "The tao is everything, and everything is my heart."

Hearing those strange words, Inuzuka Yui didn't know what they meant, unfortunately, Yuta didn't feel like explaining and he ignored this girl who was being used as a puppet.

Soon, the classroom was filled with people and everyone was seating in strange places, far away from their friends and companions.

When the teacher arrived, he didn't waste anytime.

The rules were written in the blackboard, and without a second of rest, he distributed a bunch of test papers to everyone and announced the beginning of the exams.

Taking a look on the test papers, Yuta suddenly felt bored. What is this? Is this really a test?

Why is it asking the name of the allied clan who helped create Konoha which was famous for having red hair?

Isn't this extremely easy to answer?

What about who is the ancestor of the Senju clan? Doesn't everyone knows that it's the six paths sage?

Ah, finally an actual question!

Calculate the time needed at walking pace to cross the enemy lines depicted below through the valley of the end and if there's a better approach on how to ambush the enemy, please elaborate your reasoning.

Sure enough, how could all the questions be so simple? Some of them are very difficult and will have a higher requirement in logical reasoning and military education!

After he finished reading, he grabbed the pencil and began to write on the answers sheet.

Inuzuka Yui who was on the side, couldn't help but feel annoyed when she saw all of the questions, is this something that human beings can answer? Why doesn't it ask about how to take care of puppies, or how to feed them the correct amount of food, or how much physical training they can do everyday? Aren't these very common sense?

Then a idea crossed her mind! 'Haha, isn't that right? With this stinky guy beside me, do I have to worry about not having the answers?'

Hurriedly, she turned to the side slightly and prepared to copy the answers, but who would have thought.

Seeing the speed at which he was writing, Yui was completely stunned. In a panic, she had just started to copy the first answer when that stinky guy suddenly stood up and walked towards the Saburo-sensei with the test papers!

Frozen in place, she looked up at the scene and was once again stunned.

She thought this bastard was quick enough, but to her surprise, Nohara Rin, Ebisu and Kakashi stood up one after the other and walked down the stairs to deliver their papers.

Of course, it wasn't just her, everyone was a little surprised by their speed.

Seeing those kids walking to him, Saburo smiled from ear to ear.

What is there to worry about when you have such good students? Why can't everyone be like them? Especially that troublemaker, Uchiha Obito!

Just thinking about him made Saburo-sensei stressed.

Shaking his head, he took the papers of each kid and allowed them to leave and wait at the corridor. The second test would only start after half an hour.

...

Seeing Ebisu and the others coming out after him, he smiled and greeted.

"Good morning, Rin, Ebisu, and Kakashi. How's the test? Did you have any difficulty?"

As they exchanged greetings, Rin was the first to answer. "To be honest, the one about crossing enemy lines felt a little hard... I don't know if my answer is good enough?"

Ebisu adjusted his glasses and nodded. "That's right, it's clear that to get full marks, you need to elaborate on a better route to achieve the same goal. Alas, I'm also not too sure on this one."

Seeing that even Ebisu was like that, Rin sighed.

Then her eyes stopped on the figures of Kakashi and Yuta. Both of them seemed calm and collected.

"What about the two of you?"

Yuta just smiled and didn't say anything. Clearly he was very confident.

"Those questions aren't that difficulty. In fact, it's referencing a battle between the Uchiha and the Senju that took place in the valley of the end. If you know about it, you can also know the answer for the best strategy... That was how nidaime-sama ambushed the Uchiha and also defeated the brother of Uchiha Madara."

Hearing this answer, not only Ebisu and Rin, even Yuta was surprised. Was there such a thing?

Yuta couldn't help but feel that he was a little biased by what he knew from the anime. It's better to be more careful in the future, who knows how many things had happened off screen?

Rin on the other hand had a small blush as she looked at Kakashi. Seeing his cool and laidback behavior while answering with absolute confidence, her heart seemed like it would pop out from her chest at any moment.

Ebisu on the other hand gnashed his teeth in anger. Alas, he should read more history books when he's free!

....

In the academy's running field, Yuta and the others queued up and waited for the signal.

Seeing that the kids were ready, Saburo-sensei waved his hand and threw a kunai at a nearby tree, the moment it hit the tree bark, everyone started running!

The sound of dozens of feet pounding on the ground echoed across the academy's running field. There was a feeling of excitement and energy in the air that couldn't be missed.

Seeing the cloud of dust left behind, Yuta had a strange feeling in his heart. If Minato had been their teacher and wore a pink suit, he could have said that this was the beginning of the steel ball run.

Chuckling to himself, he stopped daydreaming and adjusted his pacing. Years of meditation and months of training had greatly improved his physical constitution. A hundred laps run wasn't as much about speed as it was about endurance.

With that in mind, he controlled his breathing and didn't force himself.

At this moment, a figure suddenly burst forward like an enraged horse.

With a laugh, Obito shouted on top of his lungs. "Haha, I will show you all why you shouldn't underestimate me! Uchiha Obito will definitely become Hokage!"

Looking at this scene, Saburo-sensei face palmed himself.

Yuta and the others also rolled their eyes. This is a true master of self sabotage.

After fifty laps, most of the kids were already panting and sweating all over, save for a few exceptions.

Yuta continued his leisure pace and had no trouble. By his side was Kakashi who was also in perfect conditions without a drop of sweat on his forehead.

Lagging a little bit behind them was Rin, Ebisu and Obito.

Although Rin and Ebisu were flushing a little, due to the heat and intense exercise, they were still in good condition.

Obito however was sweating like a pig, because he ran at full strength at the start, he got an advantage of ten laps.

But at this point this advantage had been reduced by five laps, and is still steadly decreasing.

"Damn it! Why is it so hard?!"

Not far from Kakashi and Yuta was a boy with a bowl shaped hairstyle who was wearing green spandex. Not only was he in perfect condition, he was even running on two arms instead of his legs!

"Haha! Kakashi, my eternal rival! Let's compete on who can run the longest using only our hands!"

The corner of Kakashi's eyebrows twitched as he replied shortly and without any intention of continuing the topic.

"No!"

Unfazed, Might Guy continued to laugh. "Haha, it turns out that my rival is still holding back to secure the victory! As expected of Kakashi! Yoshi, come on! Let our youth burn as bright as the sun!"

On the side, Yuta couldn't help but laugh a little, this guy was just like on the show.

By the end of the race, the rankings were decided.

1st place - Kakashi

2nd place - Guy

3rd place - Yuta

As for Rin and Ebisu, they were just behind the kids of the clans, while Obito was dead last and stopped running before everyone else.
