Hearing Diana word's makes Finnian sobbed even harder, his body shaking with despair. He knew his father love him more than anything in the world and would do anything to protect him, he rested his head on Diana's shoulder, feeling a sense of comfort and security in her words and her warm embrace.
Diana held him close, stroking his hair and whispering words of comfort in his ear. After a while, Finnian's sobs began to subside, and he pulled back from Diana's shoulder.
"I'll go and talk to my father later tonight, Without the queen knowing. I'll beg him not to let me marry Lord Thomas."
Diana nodded in support. "Be careful, Princess," she whispered. "You know the queen will not take kindly to you going behind her back."
Finnian nodded, wiping his tears with the sleeve of his gown, "I'll be careful," he said. "I'll beg him to not make me marry Lord Thomas and I'll also beg him to give me a little time to think about how to tell him the truth about my gender."
Diana nodded and patted Finnian shoulder before standing up from the bed, " do not cry any more my princess, I'm sure your father will listen to you, I'll go and make you your favorite sweet.
Finnian smiled at Diana before lying down on the bed thinking about what he will tell his father.
Later in the night,Finnian made his way to the secret meeting place only him and his father know about, his heart raced with anticipation. He had to be careful not to be seen by the queen or her spies.
As he entered the room, he saw his father sitting on the couch, a warm smile on his face. Finnian rushed to his father, throwing his arms around him in a tight hug.
king Aldous patted Finnian's head, hugging him back just as tightly. "It's been a while since I've seen you, my daughter, I was surprised to see your message " he said, his voice filled with affection.
Finnian pulled back, looking down at his feet. "I'm sorry, Father, I didn't meet with you because I don't want to give you more stress."
king' Aldous expression softened, and he reached out to gently lift Finnian's chin. "You could never be a stress to me, Finny, I'm only at peace when I'm with you."
Finnian looked in his father's eyes and saw the deep love and concern there. He took a deep breath, knowing he had to ask for his father's help. "Father, I need your help please," he said, his voice shaking slightly.
King Aldous nodded his head encouragingly. "Ask me anything, Finny," he said quickly. "I'll do it for you, no matter what it is."
Finnian took a deep breath, his heart pounding in his chest. "Father, I do not Wish to marry Lord Thomas," he declared.
King Aldous expression turned somber, and he sighed deeply. "Finny, it might not be possible, I've already given the queen permission to marry you off."
Finnian's face fell, and he felt a wave of despair wash over him. He knew that changing his father's mind won't be easy, but he knew he can't give up hope either, not when his secret is about to be exposed.
Finnian's eyes pleaded with his father as he spoke. "I know, Father, but you can also ask the queen not to arrange my marriage again, You're the king you can tell her not to do it anymore, your word is law."
King Aldous looked at Finnian and smiled. "I've heard you, Finny, you're just like your mother, stubborn and headstrong. I will discuss the matter with the queen and tell her to stop the marriage process."
Finnian's face lit up with joy, and he felt a weight lift off his shoulders. "Thank you, Father," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.
King Aldous smiled and pulled Finnian into a warm hug. "I'll do everything in my power to protect you, Finny," he said. "You're my daughter , and I love you more than anything in this world.
Pulling away from the hug, King Aldous looked at Finnian, his eyes filled with concern. He sighed heavily, his shoulders sagging. "If I cancel this arrangement, the queen will just rest a little and come back with another suitor for you to marry, I want to see you married and settled in your husband house before I die, I want to see you leave this place and start a new life with the man who will love and cherish you."
Finnian felt a pang of despair , knowing that his father didn't understand his situation. King Aldous continued, "I've looked into Lord Thomas, and I think he's a respected and perfect gentleman. Maybe you'll be happy with him."
A tear slipped out of Finnian's eye, and he quickly wiped it away. "I know you're thinking of what's best for me, Father, And I'm very grateful. But I have a huge secret that I don't want people to know about. If I marry Lord Thomas, my secret will be exposed and I don't want that to happen."
King Aldous's expression turned serious, and he used both his hands to cup Finnian's cheeks. "My lovely child," he said, his voice filled with love and concern. "I promised your mother that I'd take care of you for the rest of your life and keep you safe from harm's way. You remind me of your mother, my wife, the only woman I ever loved. What kind of secret do you have that you can't share with me, your father?"
More tears rolled out of Finnian's eyes as he hugged his father tightly. "I'm so sorry father, I can't tell you anything for now but I promised that I'll tell you everything soon," he said, his voice muffled against his father's chest. "Just give me a little more time, please."
King Aldous held Finnian close, his own eyes welling up with tears. "I've heard you, Finny,I'll do as you say. Take all the time you need and once you're ready I'll be here waiting for you."
They both hugged each other one more time, holding on tightly before finally parting ways. King Aldous smiled and stroked Finnian's cheek, his eyes filled with love.
"I'll be waiting for you, Finny, Whenever you're ready to talk."
Finnian nodded, feeling relieved for his father's understanding, he knew he wouldn't be able to lie to his father had he demanded that he tell him his secret and he knew he wasn't ready to tell his father his secret.
With one last look at his father, Finnian turned and left the room, his heart filled with a renewed strength and determination.
Finnian was over the moon with joy as he ran back to his chambers. He couldn't wait to share the news with Diana. He burst through the door, calling out for his loyal handmaid.
Diana appeared instantly with a look of concern on her face. But seeing Finnian's beaming smile quickly reassured her.
"He's done it, Diana!" Finnian exclaimed, hardly able to contain his excitement. "Father's agreed to cancel the marriage between me and Lord Thomas! I'm free!"
Diana's face lit up with a radiant smile. She let out a loud squeal of delight, jumping up and down in excitement.
The two of them rushed into each other's arms, hugging tightly as they spun around the room. They laughed and cried together, basking in the joy and relief of Finnian's newfound freedom.
For a few moments, they just held each other, savoring the happiness that filled their hearts. Then, still grinning from ear to ear, Finnian pulled back and looked at Diana with shining eyes.
"We did it, Diana," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. "We're going to be okay, my secret won't be exposed."
Finnian's eyes shone with gratitude as he looked at Diana. "Thank you, Diana," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Thank you for making me talk to Father about canceling the marriage. I don't know what I would have done without you."
Diana smiled, her eyes warm with affection. "You don't have to thank me my prince,It's my duty to help you with anything you need. You're like a little brother to me now,"
Finnian's face lit up with a tender smile. He leaned forward and give Diana a gentle kiss on the cheek. "I'm so grateful to you, Diana," he whispered. "Not just for helping me with this, but for taking care of me since childhood, for keeping my secrets... for being my solitude in times of trouble you make living in this palace easier for me , Thank you ."
Diana's eyes welled up with tears as she hugged Finnian tightly. "I make a promise to your mother to take care of you and keep your secret till I die, you have nothing to worry about I'll always be here for you, Finnian," she whispered . "No matter what."
Finnian smiled and nodded blinking away the tears that threaten to fall out of his eye, "I think I'll go to bed now ."
"Ok my prince do you want me to bring anything for you or help you with your bath." Diana said stepping back a little bit.
Finnian shake his head and tell Diana not to worry that he'll manage, he enter his bedchamber his eyes scanning the familiar space. He began to strip off his clothes, letting out a sigh of relief as he shed the formal attire.
He walked over to the mirror, his eyes locking onto his reflection. He gazed at himself, his hands running over his naked body. For a moment, he simply admired his own form, feeling a sense of pride and self-acceptance.
Next, he made his way to the bath that had been prepared for him. he slipped into the bath tube and closed his eyes, letting the water work its magic as he washed away the stresses of the day.
After staying in the bath for Awhile finnian stepped out of the bath, feeling refreshed and renewed. He dried himself off and slipped into his night clothes.
With a contented sigh, Finnian climbed into bed, feeling the softness envelop him. He settled in, his eyes drifting shut as he let him self drift off to sleep.
