Lasting Sensation

She ran as if her life depended on it,she didn't know who was after her,all she knew was that she must ran away from whoever was after her,she was in a thick forest and she didn't know how she got there,she kept on running until she hit a branch on the ground and fell hard,sustaining injury,she was about to get up quickly and continue running for her life when suddenly the person chasing after her , wearing a black hooded garment with a cutlass on his left hand appeared from nowhere and was about to hit her with,she screamed and heared her mother calling her name and woke up forcefully"Adaorah ogini,what happened,get up" Adaorah sat up trying to adjust her eyes to the light coming from her windows,she saw her mother's worried face and heaved a sigh of relief,it was a dream,a nightmare infact,she thought it was over for about two months now,but how come it appeared again and this time it was scarier"Adaorah,don't tell me it's those nightmares again,I thought they were gone,what happened ?"her mother asked looking at her beautiful daughter sweating profusely and looking tensed,Adaorah was the only she and her husband had,despite being wealthy and affulent it couldn't give them a child,they prayed year in year out but is seems as if God was far away from them,she had five miscarriages and nearly lost her life but God surprised her and finally blessed her with a beautiful daughter,she brought light and joy into their once gloomy lives.Adaorah attended the best primary and secondary school in Lagos and travelled to the United Kingdom to study Business Administration at jeeOxford University,she came to Nigeria to spend the holiday with her parents and the nighmare surfaced.Adaorah stood up from her and walked to the opened window overlooking the beautiful fountain in the center of their mansion,her mother moved to where she was standing and stood behind her holding her shoulders gently to comfort her"Don't worry my daughter,the God I serve will protect you,he gave you to us so he wouldn't let anything or anyone take you away from us,inugo nwam o"her mother's comforting word calmed her nerves and she hugged her so tight that she started coughing and let her go,they both laughed and Adaorah asked"Mom how about dad,has he gone to work" her mother replied patting her braids softly"Ofcourse my love,he left early this morning for an urgent meeting,breakfast is ready and it's your favourtite,I'll meet you downstairs"she kissed Adaorah on her cheek and left her room,closing the door behind her.Adaorah went to the bathroom to brush her teeth,humming her favourite song Believer by Imagine Dragons;she finished brushing her teeth and was about to take her bath when her phone rang and the caller ID was Jidenna,her child hood best friend who was like a brother to her,she has known him all her life,they schooled together both primary and secondary school,even when she travelled to the United Kingdom,they kept on communicating,he was everything to Adaorah,seeing his call brought so much joy to her and she didn't hesitate to answer"Hey bro,whats up,I've missed and you didn't bother to check on me yesterday when I came back from school"Jidenna on the other end replied" Oh I'm so sorry my little princess,I'm standing in front of your window now,why don't you come and say hi to daddy"Adaorah rushed to her window and saw Jidenna smiling broadly,looking up to her with red roses in his hand.Adaorah screamed,full of excitement and ran all the downstairs to meet him,she jumped on him and held him tight,the stewards who worked in their mansion who were present there were surprised at them,likewise her mother who stood by the door raised her eyebrows and smiled,Jidenna put her down,surprised at so much weight she'd gained and teased her"You don go London go dey fat abi,see as your nyash don big dis girl,hope say dose boys no dey whine you too much,I fit change am for them"Adaorah laughed heartily hitting his elbow and swinging his their hands and they walked inside the house"You dey whine me,anybody wey do anyhow I give am anyhow,I be naija babe na"she replied in pidgin to Jidenna's amazement who was surprised her accent hasn't changed despite her years in London.They walked in hand in hand ,gisting about all that has happened in each other's absense,she was in her pyjamas but all that mattered to her was Jidenna's presence to wash away the nighmare from her memory.
