Chaos Tree (Bonus Chapter)

Inside the Pocket World, Yu Yan rose and stretched like a lazy cat just waking up from a nap. Although, he hadn't been sleeping but was sitting for a long time roasting a Spirit Chicken.

Along with his Cultivation, the Pocket world continued to expand endlessly, so much that at a point, he restrained the small island surrounded by the Chaos Spring from expanding. Residing here, he observed the changes in the space outside this small island.

For two years now, he diligently cultivated the soil; a year ago, after getting Hei Ying and inviting her into the Pocket World, she joined him, and together, they made a spirit rice farm and a herb garden. The rest of the space was filled with various fauna from the real world.

Yu Yan was so meticulous that he brought in even insects and worms of different kinds. The Yu Clan resided in a mountain surrounded by forest so they had access to a large variety of animals.

Once, out of curiosity, he brought a Silver-furred bear into the Qi Sea realm with Hei Ying's help. He wanted to see what would happen if someone with higher Cultivation than him entered this space. Hei Ying didn't count; she was his companion, so her loyalty was unquestionable, and her life was tied to his.

Amazingly, nothing happened. The bear was restrained by Yu Yan's thoughts and will. Everything in the Pocket World was under his control, even the topography of the area.

Right now, the Spirit Chicken he was roasting was not one of the wild ones, but among the set, he saved within the island and raised in a pen.

"Hope you haven't finished everything." Hei Ying's voice alerted him of her presence, and he turned around to see her behind him.

He had allowed her permission to enter and exit the Pocket World at will but he had to mark her with a spatial mark. Her cultivation was higher than his so this was only possible with her support.

"I haven't even started eating" Yu Yan laughed and pointed towards the fire.

"Then where's the meat?" Hei Ying crossed her arms and raised her brows, her eyes glaring at him.

"Eh?" Yu Yan looked down at the fire. The meat was gone!

"Bai Yun!" Yu Yan shouted and looked around the space. He spotted the mischievous puppy behind the now small tree eating furiously. It ripped pieces of meat swallowing them outrightly without even chewing.

"Are you Number 2? How can you be such a glutton" Yu Yan immediately leapt at it. But the wolf pup instantly dissolved into a blood pool which vanished not long after, the pup and chicken gone.

"No, you don't!" Hei Ying exclaimed vanishing into the shadows as she chased after Bai Yun.

Yu Yan awkwardly glanced around the now-empty island and then settled his gaze on the small tree.

"At least I can walk, why don't you take a step for me to see?" he glared at the tree.

Taking a moment to sense, he felt Bai Yun and Hei Ying moving through the Pocket World at unscientific speeds. They broke the speed of sound over and over again as they moved. They couldn't achieve true teleportation within the Pocket World as the laws were incomplete. Even the incomplete laws were not real so a few things were flawed.

But they moved at speeds incomprehensible by the human mind. Bai Yun moved first and so maintained her headstart advantage. Hei Ying continued to push herself, keeping up but unable to make up for the gap.

All of a sudden, she stretched her hand, and the shadows in the Pocket World vanished. For a brief moment, Yu Yan felt he could resist her bloodline ability, but he didn't, instead watching curiously as all the shadows converged at where Bai Yun appeared next, turning Bai Yun's form so dark she almost seemed to exist in a different space or not at all.

"Teleport now, why don't you?" Hei Ying laughed as she saw the frozen wolf pup.

She approached from behind, walking slowly as she relished the feeling of victory. Walking around the pup, she noticed the meat in its mouth, and her face instantly turned sour.

"That's the only thing left?" she asked in anger, her face turning red.

Reaching out, she took a piece of bone with very little skin attached to one edge.

"Glutton wolf!" she cursed before appearing by Yu Yan's side.

Yu Yan saw the wolf was still frozen and sighed at Hei Ying's petty attempt at revenge. Willing it, the Pocket World returned to normal, once again having shadows formed by the light of the green mist above.

Bai Yun appeared beside Yu Yan wagging her tail and panting, her face bright and lively as she thanked him.

"The selection is in three days, have you decided what form of test the candidates will take?" Yu Yan suddenly asked, glancing at Hei Ying who had brought another chicken from the pen.

"Beautiful and level-headed. With that tree and the Chaos Spring, talent can be cultivated" Hei Ying replied without skipping a beat.

"You know what that is? Why didn't you tell me?" Yu Yan exclaimed in pleasant surprise.

"How am I supposed to know you don't know what tree you planted in your Pocket World? With how you've been feeding it Chaos water, I thought you knew what it was." Hei Ying looked up at him in surprise, pausing her actions.

Yu Yan rubbed the tip of his nose in embarrassment and looked away. There was just something hot about seeing a beauty like Hei Ying de-feathering chicken. She wasn't even doing it elegantly but with expertise and familiarity.

Shaking her head, Hei Ying returned to work, not knowing that Yu Yan's thoughts were someplace else.

"It's a Chao Tree. It produces Dao Fruits every hundred years, Longevity fruits every eighty years and Chaos Fruits every thousand years"

"Dao Fruits help in cultivating the Dao. It bypasses talent and instills the Dao directly into the soul as if one has cultivated it themselves. There's no side effects and it only instills the Dao you are cultivating."

"Longevity fruits give a hundred years of lifespan and Chaos Fruits are for body Cultivation to develop the Primordial Body. Most Chaos trees don't produce Chaos Fruits even in a thousand years. But by feeding yours chaos water, it might in shorter period of time.

"The tree can fully utilize the effects of Chaos water, unlike us. When we take it, ninety percent of its potency is lost. Our cultivation is too low" Hei Ying shook her head as she started to gut the chicken.

Thinking about the Chaos Spring made her feel like crying. In the myriad realms, the number of times Chaos Springs have been found is less than the number of fingers on one hand. Each time it was found, ancient entities would emerge and fight to the death for it, destroying worlds and realms for a vial.

Who in their right mind would give cultivators less than a mortal any Chaos water to drink? It was a waste that could make the heavens cry.

"Wow, that's awesome!" Yu Yan exclaimed at the realization that he had a true treasure in his hands.

"But no. It's too valuable to use carelessly even if we have it easily" he shook his head in refusal. He didn't want the Red Maidens to be flower girls, just because they had ribbons for weapons didn't mean it wouldn't cut.

"I know, I was joking. Giving them the Chao water is already a sin against the heavens" Hei Ying truly thought so.

"Then what's the selection method?" Yu Yan asked again.

"You'll see for yourself soon." Hei Ying stuck out her tongue at him, and Yu Yan had no choice but to give up.

"I'll also take this opportunity to address the clan. End this fiasco once and for all."

"How is your power compared to our enemies. I know you have scanned the capital, what do you think?" Yu Yan asked, his eyes hiding a fiery light.
