Hidden feelings

Chapter3/3

"Liam... you're here. It's good you came, it's been a long time since we last saw you, grandson."

"Ah, by the way, Grandpa, this is Elie, she's my secretary and also my girlfriend."

"Girlfriend???"

"Yes mom."

"Nice to meet you ma'am sir."

"Oh, come on, have a seat so we can have dinner." Liam's grandfather said happily.

"Hey, why didn't you tell me there was a meet and greet with your whole family? Look at what I'm wearing, I didn't have time to prepare." I whispered to Liam.

"It's okay," he said with a wink and a soft voice.

"So, how long have you and Liam been together Ms....?" Liam's mother asked.

"Elie ma'am, actually we're just starting out."

"How did you two meet?"

"Ah... we met..." I stopped my answer.

"He bumped into me because he was in a hurry and we fell in love." he teased.

"What kind of love story is that?" Liam's mother said in disbelief.

I just smiled shyly because of what Liam told his family.

"How's the company Liam? It's been a long time since I've been to the company. I'm sure no one is protesting anymore because you're the one I put in charge, my grandson."

"Don't worry Grandpa, the company is doing good."

"That's great, I know I made the right decision putting you in charge of the company, do your best grandson. By the way, have you talked to your brother?"

"Not yet Grandpa, since he left for Australia."

"I could see the sadness on Liam's Grandfather and Liam's faces when they talked about his brother. I was curious and wanted to ask but I stopped myself from finding out what happened and why Liam suddenly became sad."

"Anyway, Liam I'll talk to you later." Liam's mother said angrily.

"Excuse me, where's the restroom here?"

"Linda....?"

"Yes madam?"

"Take her to the restroom."

"This way ma'am."

When I got to the restroom, Liam's mother and Liam left to talk. When I came out of the restroom, I accidentally overheard their conversation.

"Liam, are you out of your mind???! Girlfriend really??? Are you kidding me? What about Mr. Wang's daughter? They're a big asset to the company. You know his daughter wants to marry you! " she said angrily.

"I don't like Mr. Wang's daughter mom!"

"Is that why you got a girlfriend without telling me huh?! To annoy me?! Oh come on Liam I know you!" You're very disappointing." She said angrily as she left.

"Grandpa? Excuse us, I'll take Elie home, it's getting late."

"Thankyou for today Grandpa. Nice to meet you again ma'am, granpa."

"Okay, go ahead, be careful. Take care of my grandson huh?" he said happily.

Liam's mother just nodded, annoyed, and I smiled.

"Let's go."

"Ah sir, it's okay even if you don't take me home. I'll just take a taxi."

"No, I'll take you home. Get in" he said, recommending it.

I had no choice but to get in.

"Ahm... Sir, are you alright?" I asked worriedly.

"Of course, what do you mean?

"Ah, nothing."

"I'm fine, don't worry. I should be asking you, are you okay? Sorry, if I didn't tell you we were going to my house, I'm also apologizing for my family, did they pressure you too much?"

"No, it's okay sir. I had fun. also It's part of my job. Sir, we're already here in my house.

In a chance occurrence, I couldn't unbuckle my seatbelt.

"Why?" Sir Liam asked.

"I can't unbuckle my seatbelt " I said shyly.

"I'll do it.." he said while smiling at me.

As he leaned closer to me, I looked at him and there it was again, my face flushed and I felt something different that I couldn't understand. His touch, so close, sent a shiver down my spine. It was a feeling I couldn't quite explain, but it was definitely something special. The way he looked at me, with such tenderness, made my heart skip a beat.

"Thankyou for the rides."

"Don't mention it. See you at the office." He said goodbye with a smile. His eyes held a warmth that made my heart flutter. I couldn't wait to see him again.

"Wait! Why am I blushing?"

My phone buzzed with a notification, a message popping up on the screen.

"Thank you for today."

"Get some rest."

As I continued walking, I noticed a man standing near the gate of our house, seemingly waiting for someone. Curiosity piqued, I approached him.

"Dwayne? What are you doing here?" I asked, my voice laced with confusion.

"Can we talk, Elie? I've been calling you, but you haven't answered."

"For what?"

"Forgive me, Elie."

"Go home. We have nothing to talk about."

"Elie, wait, please..." he pleaded, his voice laced with desperation.

"It's over, isn't it? We both ended it. Why are you asking for forgiveness? It's done, I've forgotten, I've moved on. You can go home now, Dwayne." My voice was sharp, laced with irritation.

As I turned to leave, he caught my hand, his grip firm, unwilling to let me go. I stopped, unsure of what to feel, overwhelmed by the sight of him again.

"Leave her alone!" Liam's voice boomed, cutting through the air.

"Elie, let's go."

I was startled to see it was Sir Liam who had shouted.

"Sir, what are you doing here?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper, shock coursing through me.

"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.

"Wait, who are you?" Dwayne demanded, his tone tinged with annoyance.

"I'm her boyfriend. Why, who are you?" Liam's response was a confident, almost cocky declaration.

"Boyfriend?" Dwayne echoed, disbelief coloring his voice.

"Dwayne, please... go home. We can talk later." I pleaded, my voice strained.

"You heard her. Go home." Liam's voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.

Dwayne finally relented, turning and walking away. I stood there, bewildered by the sudden turn of events, my gaze fixed on Liam. We stood facing each other, the silence between us thick with unspoken words and a whirlwind of emotions.
