The next morning, Leah slowly opened her eyes, feeling groggy and disoriented. She rubbed her forehead, about to get up, but then noticed a letter resting on her pillow, with the words "To Leah" written on it.
She carefully inspected the handwriting and quickly recognized it as Ryan's. She remembered that they had been drinking and talking the night before, sharing many heartfelt thoughts. Why, then, was there a letter left for her? She thought to herself, What is this kid up to now?
With a lazy stretch, she tore open the envelope and quickly scanned the contents of the letter. Before long, tears started to fall from the corners of her eyes.
The letter read:"Dear Sister,By the time you read this letter, I will already be gone. To me, Sweet Spring Town has lost its meaning, and there is nothing here worth holding onto. I have chosen to leave in search of the truth about my origins. Please do not come after me, because I do not know where I am going.By the way, the ring you are wearing was made from the body of a flood dragon. I hope it can serve as your protection in the future. I have already recognized you as its master while you were sleeping.I must also remind you not to use Snow Condenses' power in front of others. Though Snow Condenses is a treasure, its power might attract unnecessary trouble due to your current weakness. If one day you have no choice but to use its power, make sure to eliminate everyone who has seen it.The time has come for us to part ways. But I believe we will meet again someday. Please do not worry about me.Take care,Ryan."
Reading the letter, Leah gripped it tightly in her hands, then rushed out of the room, her voice choked with sobs as she cried, "Ryan, Ryan..."
Without looking back, she ran straight to the room where Ryan had been. When she opened the door, she found the room exactly as it had been—disheveled, but Ryan's presence was gone.
At that moment, her cries caught the attention of Harry and Alice. The couple hurried out of their room to check what was happening.
As they entered the courtyard, they saw Leah crying by Ryan's door. Harry quickly approached and asked, "Leah, what's wrong? Why are you crying like this?"
Leah didn't respond, her sobs too overwhelming to hear his words. Harry noticed she was holding a letter in her hand, and quickly realized it might have something to do with the situation. He grabbed the letter and scanned it quickly, letting out a deep sigh, "Sigh..."
He then handed the letter to Alice, who read it and muttered softly, her eyes wet with tears, "Ryan, you...!"
Alice hugged Leah tightly and turned to Harry, her voice shaking with anger. "What are you standing there for? Go find him, now!"
Realizing what had happened, Harry snapped back to attention and immediately began organizing the servants to search for Ryan.
Once Harry had left, Alice, holding Leah in her arms, asked with a choked voice, "Leah, what's going on with Ryan?"
Before Leah could respond, Alice interrupted, "Ryan—no, to be accurate, his name is Lin Feng—he is not my biological son, nor is he your brother by blood. But his background is complicated. Your father and I promised not to reveal anything about him to anyone, including you. So..."
"Then why did Father secretly use underhanded means to make Ryan leave Norton Academy?" Leah asked, her voice filled with frustration.
Alice sighed deeply. "That... was to protect him. If anyone discovered the secret behind his pendant, it could put his life in danger. Your father did what he did to protect him. The House Stark wouldn't care about a few thousand gold coins."
She then glanced at the ring Leah was wearing and asked, "By the way, Ryan mentioned in the letter that he left you a ring. Is it this one?" Alice pointed to Leah's middle finger.
Leah looked at the ring on her finger. She continued to touch it with the other hand, feeling the presence of the precious gift Ryan had left her. Nodding, she confirmed, "Yes, it is." She then reached out with her elemental powers and probed the ring.
Because the ring had been bonded to her through blood, Leah quickly understood its purpose. What had seemed like an ordinary decorative ring was actually a space ring capable of storing items. Inside it, there was a place where a flood dragon lay coiled.
When she saw the flood dragon, Leah couldn't help but gasp in awe. The overwhelming aura it emitted made her feel as if she were choking.
Just then, a strong mental projection came from the dragon's body, and as Leah accepted this connection, she realized that she could use the water elements of the dragon in battle. Not only that, but she could even release the dragon to fight on her behalf. She found it hard to imagine how Ryan had crafted such a powerful ring.
As she continued to explore the ring's capabilities, she began to think that perhaps Ryan needed it more than she did. This gift was far too precious.
Leah now understood that Ryan had fought in the so-called "wheel battle" just to win enough gold to create this ring for her. She also deduced why Ryan had bought so many Illusion Stones.
Although Leah's pendant could store Snow Condenses, it was not a space artifact, as it could only store Snow Condenses and nothing else. For someone like her, who would be traveling far, she clearly needed an item capable of holding more.
Realizing how much thought Ryan had put into preparing for her future, Leah couldn't help but feel her tears return.
Alice noticed Leah's changing expression and asked again, "What's wrong?"
Leah told her mother everything about the ring and some of Ryan's secrets, but she only mentioned that Ryan had used a disguise during his fight at Norton Academy. As an elemental master, Leah understood the importance of keeping one's level and talents secret. She didn't want anyone, including her parents, to know these details. After all, she had promised Ryan to keep his secrets.
