{"I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it"}
The air in the room grew heavier when Qadira appeared, her expression a mixture of shock and guilt. Her lips parted slightly as the color drained from her face, and I knew instantly that she had been listening to our conversation.
"Ma, I didn't mean to eavesdrop," she blurted out, her tone defensive as she stepped further into the room.
I leaned back in my chair, watching as she hesitated before lowering herself into the third empty seat next to us. Her eyes darted between me and Ma, lingering on me with a look that was far too curious for my liking.
Then she asked the question that made my jaw tighten. "So, Freyr, do you want to finish off our family, or what?"
I chuckled, though there was no humor in it. "It's none of your business, Qadira," I replied, my tone clipped.
