{"I love you not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you."}
I had pushed her too far, and I knew it the second I saw the shift in her grey eyes—the way they darkened, pupils blown wide with something primal, something ravenous. The flickering firelight cast shadows over her sharp features, highlighting the way her lips curled back just enough to expose the tips of her fangs.
And then, before I could so much as breathe, she moved. A blur of speed, a rush of heat, and then, thud, my back hit the cold stone wall, knocking the breath from my lungs as her body pressed flush against mine. Hands gripping my wrists, pinning them high above my head, her strength an unrelenting force that stole any chance of escape.
A sharp inhale, the brush of her breath against my throat, and then "Aurora," she hissed, voice rough, wrecked.
A shiver ran down my spine with the realization that she was hungry. Not just for blood but for me.
