I had switched the lock on the entrance and neglected to inform him.
The misty conditions outside made it easy to comprehend his anger.
He pushed past me and took a seat on the couch, staring at me with hostility.
"Emma, have you got nothing to say to me?"
I gazed at him, bewildered.
He pounded his fist on the table, clearly enraged.
"What did you tell my folks earlier today?
"They phoned me and gave me an earful.
"I had no idea you'd begun complaining about me to them."
Hearing this, I couldn't suppress a chuckle.
"What do you believe you've done that would make me complain about you?"
"Are you referring to the voice that interrupted the meeting?" I inquired calmly.
"Or are you talking about all those evenings you spent at another woman's residence?"
My words caused his expression to darken immediately.
"Ryan, you're the one who's truly unreasonable."
Perhaps the derision in my eyes was too much for him, and he clenched his fists tightly.
