Chapter 7

The following morning, I opened my eyes to find daylight flooding the room.

"Aria, you're up. How are you feeling?" Ezra's resonant voice came from beside me as he approached, carrying a dish of steaming oatmeal.

I felt a pang of self-consciousness.

My muscles ached so much I couldn't even summon the energy to rise. Eventually, I had to recline against the bed's headboard and allow Ezra to spoon-feed me.

His amber gaze never left my face, brimming with affection that only intensified my blushing.

Once we finished eating, he transported me to the thermal pool within his dwelling for a relaxing soak.

"Aria, I have to inspect the hillsides later today," he mentioned gently while helping me into the soothing waters. "Please remain here and recuperate. I'll return shortly."

I gave a feeble nod, too exhausted to protest despite my desire to accompany him. Today, my strength simply wasn't there.

After Ezra's departure, I reclined in bed, pondering my previous existence.
