Chapter 14

After Amelia and the werewolf departed, I couldn't shake off my feeling of disquiet.

"Ezra, I'm concerned they might ally with other groups and return to assault us. We should be vigilant," I expressed, sharing my worries.

Ezra's amber eyes shimmered with a steely glint. "Let them try."

Surprised, I asked, "What do you mean by that?"

His features softened as he turned to me and clarified, "Aria, the White Tiger Tribe lacks the strength to safeguard all you've brought us. If we don't grow and expand, others will eventually come to claim it."

"It's time we broaden our territory."

He briefly hesitated, then continued, "I'll command the male fighters into combat. For your safety, you must remain here in the tribe and refrain from venturing out."

His words took me aback. I hadn't anticipated such forward thinking from him.
