The butler bowed at the realization that his words might have hurt the young woman.
"No, Madam, they were laid off for negligence and incompetence," the butler corrected.
Mila dropped the spoon she was holding, suddenly losing her appetite. She wanted to believe the butler, but it was too simple. Of all days, it was the same time she had left the house that a girl she met was fired.
"Do you need something sweet for dessert?" the butler asked, noticing the change in mood.
Mila shook her head, relaxing her back against the chair. She had only meant to return to work, but it cost innocent workers their jobs.
"How many workers were fired for negligence?" Mila asked, biting her lip worriedly.
The butler cleared his throat, "Not much, we haven't lost before. You don't need to worry."
"A lot of them," Mila made the calculations in her mind. "And is there any chance they can return?"
