With every step the war machine took the city trembled. The rubbled remains of the castle were shaking from the tremors.
"Someone's in my head," Victoria said as she pushed away the large slab of rock that had fallen on her.
The blink light had died out and the sunlight peered into the building through the gaping hole the blat had made. A huge chunk of the building had been vaporized and now the rest of the building was unstable.
Cheshire popped out of the rubble. "What the hell was that Connie?"
"Don't ask me," Connie said from under the rubble. Her voice came out all muffled.
"They tricked me," Victoria said." I thought we had time." She looked down and the rubble was shaking. She looked straight ahead through the large hole in the building with her enhanced vision she could see beyond the borders of the city, she saw the grey giant, the Warmachine storming into the city
Then she sensed something turned and felt something pierced through her. Cheshire gasped as she saw the black horns and the black claws of gluttony. He had his hands through her chest, and he was about to eat her.
"Damn it!"Cheshire screamed, "Get out here,e Connie!"
"I dunno, I kind of like it down here"
"Come on Connie get out here Victoria is in trouble"
The moment she said it, Victoria jumped backward, having his hand pulled out of her as she did; her expression hadn't changed. She seemed more focused now than ever, and the hole in her chest meant nothing to her.
The grey stand was storming through the city, crushing buildings and people under its giant feet. They could all hear him coming, and Victoria was more on edge about that than anything else. Even the gluttony didn't bother her much.
"I guess I'll put him out of his misery, that'll give me enough peace to face whoever is in that giant."
Gluttony growled. His face had fully formed into a raging monster; the hunger escaped his eyes like lightning and thunder, and anyone who looked into them felt like prey under them, but Victoria felt they admired her beauty.
"He comes on too strong," she said
"What's that supposed to mean?" Cheshire screamed.
"I think he admires me"
"Get real sister! He thinks you a bowl of meat "
"You know most guys won't treat you any better but you won't know anything about that."
Connie laughed from under the boulder, and Cheshire stepped on it a couple of times to spite and crush her.
Gluttony charges at her. He's so slow; she thought I should take his arms so that she would leave him without defense. I don't know if he's still in there, but I've got too much on my plate to leave him raging out like this, here goes.
As they close in on her she aims to take off his head and finish him once and for all. She tightened her grip on her blade and leaned in to take her stance, and in a flash, she saw him get blown away.
A punch from Hercules sent him. Flying off to the far end of the wrecked castle, he crashed into a wall, and Hercules turned back to her with an angry face, "You can't kill him. Not yet."
Hercules scolded her and Victoria yelled back at her. "Aires could be headed here, right now," Victoria said in her defense. "We need to take the immortal eye before he gets it."
Hercules grabbed her hair and pulled it, stupid, "You're so stupid, you can't. Keep him alive long enough so the kid can fight it."
Why do you think he came to do it? Can't you see, sister? This isn't the gluttony from the holy wars. This kid, whoever he is, he's making it hold back; he has a strong will, and it's influencing it.
Think so, sister, Cheshire said.
"Yes," Hercules said, she cracked her knuckles and turned to the hole in the castle to see the grey giant.
Victoria pushed up her glasses and turned back to see gluttony rising from the rubble.
"Vicky, we'll hold him off; we won't let him get close," she begins, taking off the blocks to find Connie. "Just keep him until he comes back"
"What if he doesn't?" Victoria said. "I think he will," Hercules said in reply; she picked up a large boulder, and Gluttony growled. She looked and saw Connie under it, cradling herself,
"It's Connie, it's not Necrone again."
"But it rumbling," Connie said, she seemed a bit frightened, and her head in the shadow between the rubbles
"it'll be alright, I'll plug your ears."
"Hercules," Cheshire called, "it's almost here"
"Well go hold it off"
"Only me?" Cheshire screamed
Aren't you a war mother! Hercules said. Cheshire knew her ego was being played with, but despite her lack of confidence in her ability to handle it alone, he grumbled and leaped off the building.
Hercule put out her hand, "take my hand," she said to Connie. "Let's go kick some ass"
Connie slowly brought out her arm from within the rubble and Hercules pulled her out.
Victoria was already fighting off
Gluttony, she intentionally holds back and lets the fight draw out.
Hercules picked a couple of pebbles off the dusty floor; they were really small, and she used them as earplugs. She puts them in Connie's ear and hugs her and Connie finds her warmth soothing but then she gets a bit embarrassed and pushes her away and breaks her hold
"Let go," Hercules said. Connie nodded, and they both leaped out of the building, leaving Victoria alone with the raging gluttony. Victoria realized she was missing one; oh damn, she thought, where's the doctor in all the rubble.
She soon began to sense that gluttony had grown weak. He threw a final blow, and she caught it with her bare hand, "you grown soft," she said. Gluttony growled and wanted to bite her head off, but his fangs began to crack, and his horns fell to pieces.
"I don't believe," Victoria said, "He did it," she chuckled. "He really did it."
