A date?

Sunlight streamed through the window, blinding me as I blinked awake. Rolling over, I saw Andrew already dressed and ready for work. Panic surged through me – I was late!

"Babe, You're already up?" I asked, scrambling out of bed.

His response was a weak, "Morning."

I noticed his official look. He presented a polished appearance, sporting a professional office suit complemented by tasteful accessories such as a gold necklace, a gold watch, and a pair of distinguished dark shoes. His hair was neatly styled with a side part, conveying an air of sophistication and conveying an image of high status.

"You didn't wake me up? And why are you dressed so... Important?" I exclaimed, still groggy."

He sighed, tossing my towel at me. "Are we gonna sit here and talk or are you gonna get ready for work?"

I frowned at his response but didn't argue about it. I freshened up and got dressed, trying to beat the time. He decided to wait for me in the car which gave me more space to breath without going to fast.

I joined him in the car, and we took off. He was silent throughout the ride. Too silent. It made me uncomfortable, so I decided to question him about it. "Is something wrong? You've been quiet all morning." He kept his focus on the road, not replying me. "Give me an answer, Drew," I demanded, my voice subtle but serious.

He groaned, shaking his head in an annoyed way. His voice was laced with anger. "What answer do you want? Do I always have to do what you want? I'm not in the mood for this. Just stop being so demanding."

I wasn't letting him talk me out of it that easily, so I decided to proceed with a more persuasive comeback. "Andrew. Look at me,"

"I'm driving?"

"Fair point. Just listen to me. You're the one who told me when you don't like something, spit it out. I don't like what you're doing, and I'm spitting it out now. You can't give me the silent treatment for nothing."

"Jeez, woman. I am not giving you the silent treatment," he explained with a loud sigh. He continued , "I am simply not interested in a conversation right now. Nothing more; nothing less."

I nodded slowly, staring at him as he kept his gaze on the road. I huffed, a weak smile framed on my face. "Wait... is this about yesterday night?"

"What are you trying to say? You think I'm jealous or something?" He asked, finally taking a look at me briefly before reverting his focus on the road.

"I didn't say that, but

...I mean..." I hesitated, not wanting to admit the truth bluntly. "It kind of seems like you are." I could sense the awkwardness in the atmosphere as he remained silent and it made me even more uncomfortable.

"Andrew... Darling, I am sorry if I misunderstood you. Can you just speak to me in a normal way, please," I pleaded, playfully swaying him side to side gently.

"Stop that," He decreed. The car came to a stop, and he unlocked the doors. "Here you are. Have fun at work."

I couldn't believe he was still pissed off, and it kind of made me pissed off too. I quietly stepped out of the car, waving him goodbye but he just drove off without a word or waving back.

I was definitely mad about it now.

"... And then he left without even saying goodbye."

Rhea narrowed her eyes as she processed my story. "Hmm. Yeah, he's the jealous type. Well, I would say it's understandable. His wife pulled up with one of her best friends in an expensive car and arrived later than she normally would."

"I arrived something around half past six in the evening. C'mon." I said, jotting down a few details for my project in my notepad.

"It's still the same thing. He's just being silly. He'll get over it. He's probably going to come home with a smile on his face like nothing happened this morning."

I nodded in agreement. "You're right. I guess we'll be taking the bus from now on." We both laughed, the tension easing.

"Who's we?" She asked, a playful gilint in her eyes. "You're the one tied to a promise ring."

I rolled my eyes, playfully poking her hand with the pencil tip. "Now you're making it sound like it's a bad thing."

"I'm not. You're a lucky girl. Some of us are still searching for the one," She said, feigning sadness.

I snickered, crumpling a bunch of papers into one rumpled ball, aiming it into the trash can across the room but ended up missing. William, my coworker and partner on the Henderson project, picked up the paper, and disposed of it properly.

"Nice aim LeBron," He said, handing me his laptop.

I smiled, placing the laptop on the desk. "What's this?" Rhea leaned on me, trying to get a good view while William stood next to me.

"It's the 3D representation of the house. Dean and I, finished it yesterday. Well, Timothy helped out too but only with a few material ideas," He replied.

"Great. I guess we're done here," Rhea said, leaning back in her chair.

I was excited to see our project come to a good end. Now, Mr Boston would be off my neck. Still don't get why I was told to take the lead on this but at least it's over.

Felix, Rhea and I decided to spend some time in a restaurant since we were allowed to leave early. Felix volunteered to pay for the food, which made Rhea try to order more than normal.

"Rhea?" I whispered, staring at her with unamused look.

"Yeah?"

"Don't you think that's a little too much?"

Rhea's eyes glanced from my face to Felix's, who looked like he was holding in a laugh. "I'm an animal with these kinda things, and he said we could have whatever we want. Be careful with what you words next time big boy."

"Fuck, Rhea. At least pretend to be decent," I muttered, shaking my head.

Felix burst out laughing, and it made me chuckle. He gestured for her me to not bother her. "C'mon, Jess. She's hungry. And so am I."

"Alright. I thought you'd be uncomfortable with it. In that case, you're sharing some with me, glutton." I declared, pointing at Rhea as she tried ignoring me.

She turned her attention to Felix, her gaze lingering on him as if he were made of diamonds. "So, Felix," she began, her voice softer than usual, "I know we don't talk much at work, but since you're a friend of my friend, I consider you a friend of mine too."

"I guess we're friends. You're a big eater like Jess here. Some how, it's not reflecting on your bodies."

"So, are you saying you're checking me out, Felix?" Rhea asked, practically burning holes into him with her eyes.

"Uh..." He hesitated, rubbing his neck like he was searching for words. "I don't think that's what I meant." He clarified, an awkward smile plastered on his face.

She slowly placed a hand on his which were resting on the table. "You don't have to talk. I could read you from the expressions you show me."

Poor Felix looked like a deer caught in headlights. He even glanced at me like, "Help!" I almost choked on my drink. Then she just bam takes off her hairband and lets her hair down. Like, was she trying to impress him? It was so cringe, even I felt secondhand embarrassment.

Luckily, the waitress came with our food, and he immediately got distracted. He was practically drooling over her. "Thanks," he mumbled, still staring at her as she walked away. Rhea glared at him, then at the waitress, and rolled her eyes so hard I thought they might get stuck. I couldn't stop laughing, the whole thing was just too much.

"What? Why are you laughing?" Felix asked, grinning and raising an eyebrow.

"Nothing, nothing," I mumbled, grinning at Rhea who was trying to ignore us by stuffing her face. She picked up her phone, pretending to be super into it.

As Felix and I were talking, I spotted someone familiar. It was Andrew! My husband! I was surprised to see him here, I thought he was supposed to be at work. He was with this woman, seriously elegant, like she was some kind of queen. Felix noticed I was distracted and turned around to see what I was looking at.

"Isn't that... Andrew?" he asked. Rhea heard him and her eyes landed on them too.

"Yeah, it is. Is he on a date with her?" I asked, confused as I watched him walk her to a table, holding hands with her, pulling the chair out for her to sit... Is he cheating on me?
