Allies and Enemies

Jake charged forward, his tungsten fist slicing through the air. The Guardian soldiers, formidable as they were, couldn't move fast enough. His anger, mixed with the adrenaline of being pursued, propelled him into a new level of combat. He was done being the passive participant.

Lucy stood by his side, quickly engaging with Titan, her agility and skill countering the brute strength of the armored Guardian. But Jake wasn't focused on them. His eyes were on Vera—the one person he had hoped would understand him.

And yet, she had turned against him. 

As he neared her, Jake's heart skipped a beat. *What had happened to the world he once knew?*

Vera raised her hand, ready to strike—but just as she did, a crackling noise from the sky caught everyone's attention. A blinding light streaked down, impacting the earth with a deafening boom.

And then everything went dark.
