The Interrogation

(Karsten)

Her reports came out normal. Apart from the bruises on her neck, shoulders and hands, she hadn't been harmed in any other way.

The relief spread like warmth, unknotting the cold dread in my chest.

There were no broken bones except her chipped fingernails and bruised knuckles. Although seeing her wounded had enraged me, I was proud of the way she had fought.

Her unconsciousness was mainly due to her claustrophobia and the doctor has assured me she will be conscious soon.

The Lady Quinn Hospital, where we had admitted her, was one of the hospitals to which I frequently donated. The CEO was my close acquaintance, and on my request, he kept this news silent, and we didn't need to involve the police.

Olphi brought me her phone. Knowing her password, I unlocked it and saw her father had texted her several times.

I knew he would get worried and suspicious, so trying to match her texting style, I messaged her dad.
