The moment my vision returned, the world felt different. Sharper. Brighter. Overwhelming. I could see the glow of torchlight flickering against the damp tunnel walls, the fine tremble in Thania's fingers, the way her violet eyes shimmered with unspoken emotions.
I didn't think. I just moved.
I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her close.
Thania stiffened, her breath hitching but then she melted into me, gripping my back as if she needed something solid to hold on to.
For a moment, there was nothing else. Just warmth. Just relief.
I pulled up her chin with my fingers and without thinking, I kissed her.
For some reason it made sense. She was the only person that never turned on me during my predicament. She was always there, offering a helping hand, warm hugs and encouragement.
As much as I loved to lie to myself back when I couldn't see, now my vision was restored, I couldn't fight the truth.
I was in love with Thania.
